WGI ended up being a clean race, with no mayhem on lap 1 so my early pit strategy didn't save much. I switched from the Elantra to the Audi RS3. The Audit steers like a tank but it's faster on the straight. I was about .3 faster per lap with the Audi. I tanked qualifying so I could pit coming to green, still had one guy behind me and he got a black flag for passing me before green. Still managed a P8 out of 18 cars. At 39 seconds behind the leader after 40+ minutes I was pretty happy with pace.

Last Monday I ran a race with the new TCR league. It was a train wreck. Got caught up in someone else's mess twice, both requiring a tow. Still managed to finish ahead of 9 cars. I am spotted a few times and mentioned once or twice, but the results tower display on the left only goes from 1-35 so literally no way to track my progress. https://youtu.be/2nkpqVK10-U?si=8tPvivef7BPsqLVN

The new Mustang league starts officially next Tuesday evening. They have color coding for the class and a league sponsor. I tried the teal wrap but couldn't take the clash with the red, so this is what I ended up with:

Mustang debut on Tue 1/13 coverage starts 9:10 PM. There are 46 drivers registered so I am not expecting much air time. Good news is the AM class is smaller so there's a chance to be competitive there. I've practiced Imola with this car a fair bit, though I'm not sure how I'll do since this event is two 20 minute sprint races. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUfsQ9WY_Ek

Last Monday I ran in Alpha Touring Challenge at Charlotte Roval. Video link here: https://youtu.be/G5OP5EJXeYI?si=1IxOgUJDBh6YZk9P&t=2044 Standing starts were awful I have to learn how to launch the car, but lots of respectful driving in these two sprint races. Admittedly I don't get much coverage in this video.

The American Muscle Series races this past Tuesday at Imola went pretty well. In the second race I was in a pack of the top 4 in AM class and had a chance to win the class. Broadcast crew is not good so far.

Up next is XSLR league with the touring cars at Daytona road course. Coverage starts tonight at 8:10 PM: https://www.youtube.com/live/sX3mUiivoG0

Again I ran a race in Alpha Touring Challenge on Monday that they broadcast on Tuesday: https://youtu.be/Yc5pv5zBFSY?si=YnF81ARJQHfW51ak&t=2055 All the practice was dry but the rain came for the race. Luckily I practiced in the rain a little.

The American Muscle Series Brands Hatch race was decent - had to take evasive action lap 1 but did not damage the car. I did get some coverage for making a good pass in that race.

Up next is Sunday 1/25 at 8:10 PM where XSLR will go into the final phase of the season which is open wheel racing. We start at Road Atlanta and will be running the F3 car. It's crazy fast and I'm not too good with it yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8Efkg54xhQ

I quit the Alpha Touring Challenge after the last race. It was at Watkins Glen and on the last lap going into 2nd last corner (Left turn) the guy next to me moved right and ran me of the track and into a wall. I had started in the pits to avoid melee and worked my way up to P25 only to lose 7 positions as my race was disabled. That's three out of five where I got wrecked, so I'm done. Every time I got wrecked penalties were handed but, but in this case the guy got a 40 second penalty and still finished ahead of me. Penalty system means nothing when the driving culture is all wrong.

On the other end of the spectrum is the American Muscle Series. We raced at Red Bull Ring in the rain. Practice finished with a drying track and qualifying had the preferred line dry. Fast forward two hours in sim time to race start and its raining. Despite this all 48 cars made it through turns 1 and 2 without incident. At one point I was basically stopped going into T1 due to bottleneck but no one ran into me. Refreshing.

My race outcome got kinda wrecked when I misjudged a higher class car's ability to drive in the wet. He slowed wayyy more than I was expecting and we made light contact. Luckily he only spun and didn't hit anything, but the stewards gave me a drive through because of this. Oddly it damaged the car too so handling was awful. There was no visible damage and it only took 14 seconds for them to fix it. It was too early to fuel to get to the end so I lost additional time driving it like that for several laps.

Last night the AMS did not have a season event scheduled but they decided to do a non-points event at Sonoma. At the last minute they decided to do a broadcast of that event. Link here: https://www.youtube.com/live/AlR66IWwnx ... g-lK&t=446

I purposely did no prep before the event started. My first prep laps were in the practice right before the race. I had a very close shave with a guy who wrecked lap 1 and bounced off the wall into the track but after that it was smooth sailing.
