Re: 2008 Trailblazer SS
So, about 7 months have passed since the last update here and Randi and I took ol' Smoke out to a movie (The last Rodeo) to celebrate our 47th anniversary. Walking out of the movie house, I was admiring Smoke out there in the parking lot when I noticed the back end sitting way low. It was riding the bump stops. When I slowly drove her home and parked in the garage, I found that the suspension sensor link on the other side had given out. I hope I can remember how to make another one.

Looks like your last few posts will dictate the direction for your repair. And if you just do it while looking in a mirror, it should be perfect!

There are kits out there to convert to conventional suspension rather than the airbags. I was tempted to think about that yesterday, but I would rather keep the airbags if possible. I'll get to work making another sensor link. My first one is holding up quite well.

Repair accomplished. It turns out that the broken, original sensor link on the RH side was intact enough for me to get an accurate length measurement (4 3/16"). From this I learned that I had made the link on the LH side about an inch too short, so I made two new links of the same length. Once installed, the height settled in to the same on both sides and I'm satisfied. As a bonus, when I was scootin' around and the floor behind the truck, I grabbed the spare tire hanging there and it was loose. This is one that is pulled up into place with a kind of winch, so I grabbed the crank and tightened it up. Likely, it was the cause of some noise I had been wondering about for a couple of years.
