Since it's the day before we leave for a short vacation, I'll prob come down to watch the action.

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
Planning to be there to make my debut on dirt and with a pro tree. Looking at street gas and 4/6 cyl 4WD classes. Street gas is 4.50 index so will do that if I'm close.
Might be the first time this car spins the tires at WOT.

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
Running two different vehicles in two different classes makes the night a lot busier! Luckily, the classes I picked didn't overlap one another so I wasn't jumping back and forth between vehicles. In the Corvette, I was in 2WD V8 and Street Gas 4.5 which is a 4.5 index for streetable vehicles. I pretty much dominated the 2wd class, except for my one redlight which was not necessary in any way. But since it's double elimination, it's not a mistake I was going to make again, and didn't. Took home the money there.
I think my redlight in 2wd class was because I was still fired up trying to cut big lights in the 4.5 class. I was running 4.8-4.9s here and had one several rounds on holeshots, including running Andy in the Cadillac in what I believe was the semi-finals. Both of us had one loss, so it was do or die at this point. Then in the finals I had to beat the blue truck twice. I was able to beat him once in a real tight race, but put up a .014 red in the final run after we switched lanes and I just pushed it a little too much. I don't feel bad about that though. This is a class I really want to win at some point, so I'll do a few more things to try to get there. It's tough for me though cuz as the track goes away during the night, I get slower and the 4wd competition does not...
Then on the quad I got into the 450 & up knobby tire which was a big class at 21 quads, and there was a new 4.0 index class that seemed intriguing. In 450 knobby I won my first round in a close run, but in my 2nd race I stalled it... against a noticeably slower quad nonetheless putting me behind the 8 ball. I ended up 8th out of 21 and I think with a win I could have got the the top four which pays.
I don't remember the count of quads in the 4.0 index class. I'm guessing eight or so? Andy might know better from the bleachers. Anyway I won a couple, and lost one, and ended up in the semi finals against my buddy Two-Stroke Tony's son Parker who is 11 I think, but was putting down 4.0x runs in this class like a pro. Lucky for me, he ran a 3.94 on a breakout and I missed a SHIFT! My quad on a solid pass is 4.4x, so I was done either way, but Parker is not a lifter. With no win lights there, I figured I was done but Andy was pointing me back to the starting line. Funny thing is that I didn't realize this was the finals at the time. I raced an orange quad of some sort on a solid run for me, but he was just too much for me by about a bike length. That was the last run of the night apparently.
End of the night I collected $80, and after admission into the facilty ($15) and $10 per class, I cleared $35. I figured that was better than most got, so I'm super happy with that.
Hindsight tells me I would like this Raptor of mine to be faster, but not by a ton. I plan this summer to put a new full exhaust and a jet kit on this which is normally a legit 7hp. That's a big bump on the 35 or so that it already has and I think will get me consistently to that 4.0 number and likely in the 14s in the 1/4 mile. I don't think I need much more than that as I'm already competitive, but just want to be a little ahead...
Despite getting home at 2:30, this was so much fun. Got to see Matt, Alex, and Mike for a little while, made a few new friends, and hang out with Andy, Tony, and his crew too. And the weather was basically perfect too. Can't wait to do it more and get better at it.

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
The 6/6 event at Dragway 42 was a good event. KOI Drag Racing runs their program pretty well, and with racing on dirt there are very few interruptions. Short track and no burnouts mean a lot of passes get done. The weather was about perfect with temps in the 70s/60s with 0 wind where we were.
BP called just as I left the house and told me they were running late. This saved me almost an hour of sitting around, but even arriving late I still had a bunch of sitting around to do. It rained at 2 PM and they had to start the track prep all over after that, which put them about 2 hours behind schedule. They gained some of that back by shortening practice.
I registered for street gas and the 4WD 4/6 cyl class. At the time I registered they said I might not get to run the 4/6 cyl class since I had a turbo. After I made some passes they told me I was too fast and refunded me that entrance fee.
The car leaves really well, and I started out in the 4.70's for 200'. The thing is digging the whole way and while not violent there is steering to do for the whole thing. I did learn during practice that the brakes won't hold the rear wheels with the RPMs up for a long period of time. I thought it was only one wheel spinning but video shows both did.
One odd thing about this program is they don't give you the time slips. They do have a little printer and print them all but you have to get someone over them to fetch them. Luckily for me Paul's friend Tony had his whole family there. I chatted with them while we were waiting so I got included in the group, and she collected my timeslips. Tony's wife also captured some video. It was really nice to have that extra support. On that topic it was also fun to see Tony and his young son competing on their quads.
Another oddity is you don't always know if you won the round. The staging bulbs on your side of the tree flash twice but you have to be looking to know this. In case of a close run, red light or break out (on index classes) you would need your support people to tell you what happened, or just pull back around to staging to see if they call you back in again.
Like BP said once they call you class it runs fairly quick. Like I only had a couple minutes to sit in staging after competing before racing again. They call your number and you go up.
Round 1 my competition didn't show up and I got a free pass to round 2.
Round 2 was against a blue F150 quad cab and he beat me. This put me in the loser bracket
Round 3 was against a black full size Chevy truck and I won by a fender.
Round 4 was against BP and while the car ran 4.54 my reaction time gave up the large ET advantage. Still fun to race my brother in competition.
After that I hung around to watch BP finish out his night, which made it quite late. I did my best to take some pictures and video in this time. As it turned out his final class was the final class of the night, and he was in the final so it was quite literally the last pass of the night.
The pics were part of the huge stack of digital images KOI put up on their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 894&type=3
Not sure when I'll go again, but I have some adjustments I can make and got to get some practice in on pro tree.

Weather forecast looks perfect for tonight. I think I'm gonna try driving Maliboost out there, racing, and driving home.
Anyone interested in going?

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
Last night the weather was really awesome for just hanging out at the track. Got three passes in time runs, (11.94, 11.90, and 11.89). I dialed 11.87 for the first round but lowered my launch RPM to help keep me from going red. First round of eliminations was against a high 10 sec C7 Z06. I cut a .07 to his .22 light and ran a .92 on an .87 dial with just a slight tap of the brakes. 2nd round was a loser for me. I cut a .05 light to my opponents .02 and ran a .93 on an .89 dial. He went 14.68 on a 14.66 dial. So I lost by .04 at the stripe. Close, but no cigar. I'll take that loss as at least I made him work for it. And he was driving a C4 Corvette of all things. Younger kid, probably 18-19, but he races a lot apparently, so I don't feel too bad.
That being said, KMP was still super slow getting starting and running the program. And there was no cleanup or problems, just Ken talking loudly and A LOT on the PA system. The track prep seemed pretty good, but before I left I made sure to add my own traction to the truck in the form of a full tank of gas and 100+ lbs of sand in the bed. I wasn't going to be upset by a bad track...
I had lots of fun and actually Camaro Bob from a long time ago found me and we were able to get caught up as I haven't seen or talked to him in a LONG time.

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
Maliboost made its first street-driven trip to/from Kuhnle! In that sense, it was a success. I had some electrical gremlin that prevented me from making a full, successful pass but I still went 122, 124, and 128MPH on my 3 passes. After the first 2, which were only in the 13s (but at 120+), Paul started busting my balls about being faster in the S10, so I ripped off an 11.81 in my first round elimination to best him -- dialed at 11.50, I took the L against Leo's BMW.

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
I'll take the loss to Dave as I was sandbagging, literally. I had two tenths in sand and headlight removal, but that seemed like a lot of work at the time. And I was having a nice relaxing time otherwise and didn't want to ruin that.
I'm glad everyone made it home in one piece.

I made 2 time runs.
Time Run 1 - 15.0748 @ 92.13 reaction - .1350
Time Run 2 - 15.0797 @ 92.53 reaction - -.1086
so I dialed 15.02
Elimination run 1 - 14.9654 @ 92.58 - reaction - -007 red
KMP is always a fun time,
sometimes more fun then other times.

Feels like good turbo weather this morning! I'm planning on heading out with Maliboost tonight. Anyone else?
Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff KMP 9/4/24
Another fun night at KMP.
I made 2 time runs this evening..
Time Run 1 - 15.1347 @ 92.11 reaction - .2375
Time Run 2 - 14.8912 @ 92.70 reaction - .0897
so I dialed 14.82
Elimination run 1 - 14.8045 @ 93.12 - reaction - -1540 red lite loss to BP
Nuts, that red ruined a chance for some serious fun. My night was over.

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
The Challenger did well for it's first time out. I still have things to learn and get consistent. Sadly the RPMs were up just a bit too much at the starting line and it creeped forward in round 1. I tried to adjust my reaction point but ended up with a red bulb -.0068 in round 1.
