Well I forgot to put the link up for race 4 at the Nordschleife. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/live/3aeWXFBL6sg?feature=share

I was not super fast but managed to run 6 laps with no incidents and ended up finishing P14. Qualified P16 and didn't pass anyone at speed - though I passed many as they were spun out/wrecked.

Despite the mess that was race 1 I am second in points for open class.

Up next is Laguna Seca.

Laguna Seca had moderate air temps but track temps close to 120. There was not much grip and it was not a great combo with this car. Managed P19 qualifying out of 30 and ended up P22. Had one off for about 10 seconds when I accidentally double downshifted and the slowing of the rear wheels spun me out. This had me racing for positions after the pit stop, gaining two spots on the last 1.5 laps. The first one was short on fuel and the second well I had to pass him twice on the last lap.

Up next is Monza tonight. Track is much grippier and the draft will be a big factor here:

Monza turned out to be a big disaster as I got three 4x penalties and a meatball flag before turn 4 on lap 1. This means two pit stops are required to finish the race. Then almost no one else crashed so I ended up P24 of 26

Up next is Bathurst tonight:

Does the meatball flag mean you did something stupid to someone else?

No, In real life, its usually for a mechanical issue -- parts hanging off, etc. If you do something stupid to someone else, thats just a plain old black flag.

Tonight were racing at Interlagos. It's a well constructed facility though I am not a fan of the overly technical nature of the place. I haven't put in much practice so not expecting much of a result tonight

Bathurst was probably the worst performance in my league racing career. Accidentally money shifted by pressing downshift instead of push to talk, took a tow, used fast repair, then made a mistake in the downhill esses and wrecked up the car. Race over. My plan was to start at the back and let the attrition monster do its job, which was working quite well as I had moved up to 16th after just two laps.

22nd place is my 3rd worst of the season which does not bode well for my chances in the points race. And now its summer so I'm starting to think there are other places to put my time.

Did OK at Interlagos. There were like 5 drivers who had penalties and had to start from the pits so eventually they all caught me and got by, but still ended up about where I qualified in P19. The last 4-5 laps were a fun race with the 11 year old, managed to pass him on the last lap. Not much camera time for a P19 battle though.

This week is Long Beach.

I know this track as ChampCar iRacing was there in 2021. Not much room for error. I do not expect to get through this without some kind of body damage. If you see me qualifying at the back its a strategy to avoid lap 1 carnage and see if the attrition monster can be my friend.

For Long Beach I qualified in the back to avoid carnage and use attrition monster to my advantage. It worked. I had extremely slow lap 1 - gave up like 12 seconds to the leader - as I had to park at the fountain while the crash ahead got sorted out. From there though my pace slowly got better through the race and remarkably I hit no walls and no cars so got bonus points for 0 incidents. Ended up P14 which match my best of the season. Was starting to catch the kid but ran out of laps.

Tonight is Road America

Since I'm doing double duty this week as I have an endurance race with ChampCar iRacing on Saturday, I have not given this one as much practice as normal. My lap times look decent so it'll be interesting to see how this goes.

Road America was a fun race until lap 15 when my nemesis pitted me on the exit of turn 5 and I went straight into the inside wall which required a tow.

Tonight is Knockhill which is a new to me short 1.26 mile circuit. There are two groups of corners on this track where driving fast feels like a controlled crash. So far I'm not very fast and with the short laps its likely I will be lapped here.

I did not put the time in to get fast at Knockhill. Going really looked like a controlled crash every lap so I just figured out a decent line and made laps. I had a couple offs but those were only a small contributing factor to ending up 2 laps down. The sub minute laps and lack of pace were the primary contributors.

Up next is Zandvoort. https://www.youtube.com/live/T-QH1NI4W90?feature=share
This is another new track to me so I don't have the nuances so I don't have high expectations. Draft is definitely a factor here. I like the track configuration way better than Knockhill - hopefully I'll have some good racing tonight.

Zandvoort ended with a good result. Did my best in qualifying which had me starting P20. Bad news is there were only 20 cars. Nonetheless P20 was better than my worst drop week and any improvement in position could only help. The guy fourth in points did not attend so this can only help.

There were multiple cars that spun out right in front of me and I was able to avoid them and scoop up spots. P1 and P2 in open class tangled lap 1 but no real damage and were able to continue. With a little misfortune for a few drivers I was able to work my way up to P12 and finish about 48 seconds behind P1. Had a shot at leading a lap there but Ray was also good with fuel mileage and had better pace.

Anyway I liked this track it was wide and actually had uphill sand traps to help save cars from getting into the wall.

Only times I've finished higher overall in this league were at Daytona and Mid Ohio

Up next is the finale at Indy. Tonight's race will be 90 minutes - starting at the same time. Coverage at 9:15 and race at 9:30. https://www.youtube.com/live/47gl-rmvDbI?feature=share

Good race for you, made the top 20 of 25 and 7th in the open class.
52 laps on the Indy road coarse. Fun to watch.
Maybe MostMint #50 could use a little more graphics.

Indy was a mess. Lap 1 of a 90 minute race there was a deliberate incident ahead coming on to the back straight. While I saw and was checking up the guy behind did not and punted me into the fence. Car was terminally damaged so I had to take a tow and use my fast repair. That was followed by 88 minutes of running way in back.

5 of 13 races this season I got wrecked. Unclear this is any better than running in iRacing official races.

Season 14 starts this week I'll post a link once we have one
