I'm not sure I'm going to make it either, just wanted to start a thread for this season, since they're finally open.

Not me. After this week though, I'm good. Would like to take the Mustang once, and then the S10 a couple times this year to finally finish off the rear tires that are on there. The Mustang won't even need a burnout.

I'm planning on going out tomorrow night with the Mustang. It's about as ready as it can be. I drove it tonight and ran it through 1-2 and 2-3 shifts under full power and even tried a holeshot. I was surprised when it actually spun the rear tires for a few feet. Means I'll have to at least do a small dry burnout. My gray 5.0 would NEVER spin a tire in the dry. I'm hoping for a 14.8 somewhere, but as long as it's in the 14s somewhere, I'd be ok with it.
Sadly I have almost a full tank of gas. I'm running with the spare and everything.

The evening found the jimmy and I at KMP with BP's Mustang convertible and 'Smoke had his 5.0 there.

My story.
1st pass - 0.0396 reaction, 2.1888 60ft., 14.7981 @ 93.65 mph Time run
2nd pass - -.1055 reaction, 2.2761 60 ft., 15.0389 @ 92.74 mph Time run
3rd pass - 0.1326 reaction, 2.2042 60 ft., 14.7767 @ 92.30 mph Rnd 1 Dial 14.80 Double breakout win
4th pass - 0.1338 reaction, 2.2393 60 ft., 14.8735 @ 89.79 mph Rnd 2 Dial 14.80 Lost by .1108 seconds. Opponent had .0433 reaction.

The TireSmoke 3 that were there all survived the first round in their class.

As always, going to KMP continues to be great fun!

So I made seven passes total last night, all with the top down, which was cool. As long as I wore a helmet, I could run with the top down, so why not?? The car was reasonably consistent, at least when I remembered to shift correctly into 3rd gear. To shift this car manually, you start in L, shift to D for 2nd, then pull it back to L and push into into D for 3rd gear. I forgot on a couple time runs.
I lost in the 2nd round by breaking out by .004... I threw away a .007 light. I'm just not used to running a slower car and misjudged the 12 second car coming up on me and hit the brakes too late. Went a 15.09 on a 15.10 dial and I had .1243 seconds to spare, so plenty of time to brake a little sooner. Oh well, all part of the fun.

My best ET (15.09), and 60' (2.17) were on that pass, and my best MPH was 91.57 on a time run. The car still has a slight ignition miss just over 5000 rpms that I attribute to that OLD ignition module as my old '89 5.0 with the 2.73 gear would go 94mph and was two tenths slower. So I'm hoping once that's cured, I'll be able to get that 14 second pass. Otherwise I may have to do something else. Most likely the 3/4 tank of fuel that I had in the car didn't help the situation either. I also have an aluminum temporary spare coming to replace the steel one that's in there, to lighten the load a little too.

I was pretty amazed at the positive response I got from the Mustang. It was pretty cool.

I took my 5.0 out last night for the 2nd, and probably final time this season. It's a fun car to drive, but its terrible to race. Street tires, stick shift, my inexperience launching a stick = terrible consistency and not very satisfying. I really dont like beating on my daily, either. I might take the 90Vette out one time this year, but it will have the same issues. I need the Chevelle or Malibu to be completed.

I ran a best of 12.64 @ 112, and my best RT was a .10 -- the others were ~ .18x
Won my first round, only because other guy red-lighted.
Lost 2nd round to the eventual runner-up (he lost to Oldsmobile Mike in the Stock final)

I got three time runs in last night ranging from 11.70 to 11.85. The .70 I let the motor get too cool so it ran quick. I dialed 11.8 for the first round and my opponent went red so I ran it out to an 11.76. Next round was an unnecessary red (.03) against a mediocre opponent. I ran a .77 on a .7 dial which would have been MORE than enough to win. But hey, she went green and I didn't, so she was the better driver in that one.
This was the first time I have raced the S10 this year. With KMP closing in early September, I'll probably try to get out a couple more times with it. I do need an oil change and I need to recheck my drag radials as they are nearing the end of their life.

Congrats to 32V, he mowed down the truck field!

Last night I got to the semi-finals (3rd round) and just plain lost. I cut an .09 light to my opponents .08, and he ran a 17.90 on a 17.95 and I ran a 11.82 on an 11.76 dial. This was my slowest run of the night, and I'm guessing it's because I was burning up for over six seconds. I was working on not red lighting and I accomplished that. Next week I'll work on dialing in a little closer to my number. It was a beautiful night to be outside too.
