Sadly, I have a client who wanted to have a 2:00 meeting this afternoon....which will likely run for several hours.

So, unfortunately, I'm out of the contest tonight. :(

I'm out. Not for any particular reason... just not feeling it today. Don't want to change my tires on the truck, and I don't feel like racing the Golf. I'll probably just cut the grass and work in the basement.

Next Wednesday is allegedly going to be a high of 71 and sunny. That would be enough to get me to go out and finally get that elusive 11sec pass at 115. Here's to hoping...

I'm there. Actually I was there in the Jimmy with BP and his little Red Truck, 'Smoke with his Big Blue, and the 69_Malibu with his Colorado.
We were all in the truck class,14 trucks. BP went red in the 1st round, but he got what he was after, his best ET ever, 11.8...
'Smoke, Tony, and I made it through. Second round had me against Big Blue (Funny how exciting that was.) and jimmy caught Big Blue at the traps, no lifting. Tony also came around with an o.o4 lite. In the 3rd round there were 3 left, I received the Bye and the Colorado didn't make it to the Finals. Well a .2 light and a 14.98 on a 14.90 dial lead to a .1090 loss and a 2nd place trophy.

As always, TRP is great fun, just sometimes it's more fun than usual.

All my runs last night were quicker than my previous best of 11.94. I had a .86, a .91, and an .88 in eliminations where I went .02 red. It was fun seeing Fred and Dave duke it out in a very close race, and see Tony going rounds. At least one of us got some hardware too.

Very fun evening, indeed. Glad I decided not to work.....at least for now.
Can't wait to see Paul's truck in the late October or early November air.
Strange evening in that I went about a tenth slower each round.....as the temps were dropping.
Had this strange dream I cut an "oh something" light....but that can't be true. :)

Re: TRP 2019 Last Wednesday of the year

Post by Basement Paul »

Next Wednesday the 25th is the last of the year. I plan to be there, probably with the S10, trying to get an 11sec pass on my big rims. Weather so far is a high of 71 and Sunny. Hopefully we can get a good Tiresmoke crowd.

I didn't make it. Corvette wouldnt idle when I went to leave this morning, so I bailed on it and took the Cobalt. I'm also training a new guy this week, so no opportunity to leave early.

Booo.. but @ 6:55pm in Chesterland -- rain drops are falling.

We were hoping for cooler weather to chase some numbers, that never happened but we went anyway.
There were a lot of cars tonight, so BP said let's run in the Stock class since they won't be calling Trucks
until much later and we didn't want to wait. So TireSmoke members was in the Stock Eliminator, BP with the little Red truck,
Fred32v with my jimmy, and Mark B (I forgot his handle but it was fun to see him!) with his MoPar.
I think the MoPar went out in the 3rd round red, BP was out in the 4th round with a -01 red against the jimmy.

Like any other win, I had some luck, and was good when the jimmy and I needed to be.
Taking home the Stock Eliminate trophy in 6 rounds, was super crazy satisfying.

Like always TRP is great fun, sometimes the fun is even greater!

Congratulations, Fred. Mighty fine job you and Jimmy did! You seem to be piling up the trophies lately. 8)

It was a big class, and being the last Wed of the year, and the weather was really nice for the end of Sept, the place was packed with only an opportunity for two time runs. I won the first round with a -.04 redlight because the guy racing me had a -.05 red! We were almost a heads up run with my 12.19 to his 12.21. Lucky break... The second round was a .01 R/T and the third round was a .02 R/T, so I know I was borderline. When 32V's light came green, I was in harm's way and went .-01. I think I staged a little deeper and tacked up a little higher, and excuses excuses, I was out. At least I lost to the guy that won the whole thing.
