TRP Saturday 10-14-17

Post by Basement Paul »

NEXT Saturday, the 14th TRP is having a T-N-T and gambler's race. I'm hoping that my computer issues and bad spark plug wire issues are all sorted out and my truck is running up to snuff again (which I believe it is). That being the case, if the temperature is going to be in the 60's or less, I'll be putting on my little tires and trying for my best ET and run the gambler's race too.

I do see that Dragway 42 is running on Friday the 13th too. I might consider that too depending on the weather...

I dig the idea of racing two days in row. Count me in.

Since the weather is so darn warm and I'm only after better numbers, my enthusiasm for racing is waning.
I guess I'm still in if anyone else is.

I'm definitely planning to go to 42 on Friday. I might skip Saturday until it gets cooler. I just wanted to get to 42 before they close for the season and this is about the only shot since they close pretty early in the season.

OK, 42 it is.
Gates open at 4:00 pm
Testing at 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
$15 / $10 Gamblers

address 9161 Rainbow Hwy
West Salem, OH 44287

Rush hour traffic on 271 will suck getting to 71.
For me it's 80 miles, I'd be leaving home around 2:30 pm.
If I'm early I'll get something to eat in West Salem.

Could not find E85 near 42 so I'll fill up just enough for a round trip.

If something changes, text me.

I'm leaving work at 3:30pm and that should put me there at 4:30 or so.

We decide to go to Dragway 42 on Friday the 13th, just to experience the new modifications
since they turned the track around. Dragway 42 is very much improved and we were ready
for a good night of T-N-T and then onto the Gambler Race.
I made two ¼ mile runs, both were in the 14.8o’s @ 93 plus mph. It took me a round to find
the finish line and I was a little surprised the shutdown area wasn’t as long as TRP.
I made a time run in the Gambler’s lane. Too my surprise the time slip only show my 1/8th
numbers (9.47 @ 73.18). It turns out that 42’s Gamblers race is an eighth mile and box and
no box run the same class and the Gambler was not going to start until much later at 8:30 pm.
After some discussion, ‘Smoke and BP were going for one more T-N-T then we were heading
home abandoning plans to run the Gambler.
Except for a lack of signs to say we arrived at the track and where to go once we were in the facility,
the upgrades were really well done. The track was very viewer friendly, staging lanes are downhill to staging up.
All in all, I can’t think of a reason to go back to Dragway 42 since it is 80 miles from home for me,
but if something comes up, I’d go back again and would recommend it to folks who are closer.
We were ready.
We were ready.
Great facility!
