1955 BelAir value

What would you guys value this car at ? I really like it but don't like it $20k much. I have a number in my head and just want a sanity check. stock small block, tiny exhaust, exhaust manifolds, regular GM discs. Yes it's had some work done to it but nothing too special.

IMO that's a 12-14k car. It basically needs a full restoration. It's got wheels, a little front suspension work, and a crappy 350. RUN AWAY!

It has VintageAir and discs too. I was figuring 15k.

I like the first gen Camaro idea better. A lot more car for your money, and the '67 and '68's are sooo cool. '69's are overrated IMO.

My boss is thinking about selling his '68. Red w/ black stripes, V8 car, nothing fancy but in solid shape.

So, how much work do you want to put into one of these old cars? If you try
to "make" one that is original in to what you want, you have to put a lot of $
and work into the car. If you buy somebody's project car, you never know
what you are getting and may end up working on the car more than you drive it.
The "value" in an old car is really just what someone will pay for it. How much
do you want to pay vs. how much do you want to work on the car to make it
right. I don't think I'd want to pay $20,000 for a car then have to tear it all
down and get it painted, etc. which could take years to accomplish. I don't mind
working on a project, but I wouldn't want to invest some good money just to
have something that may take years to enjoy. At $20,000, you should be able to
get something pretty nice that is pretty turn key and enjoyable to drive. Keep looking
and have your $ ready, something will pop up.

See I like the patina look on the outside. I wouldn't touch that really. However I think the guy short cutted the engine, trans & exhaust. It has air & heat, power discs, the right stance, the right wheels. With that being said I wouldn't pay over $15k. Say the vintage air is $2500, the power disc upgrade $1500, the rims and tires $1500 small block automatic $1000, new steering column $1000 so the shell would be $8500 (with working lights, chrome, interior ,albeit trashed, a complete body and glass). That's probably the value. I can get a roller with no interior for about $5500 to $6500.

On the flip side.

One of those 67 camaros would be a lot easier to flip at Carlisle. Especially the 4 speed one I think.

Can't go wrong with a 4-spd, V8 Camaro. No matter what motor is in it.
