I just purchased a new 2018 GMC Canyon Crew Cab Short Box 4x4 in white.
I'll be picking it up Saturday at noon from Junction.

Already went to Summit to pickup a tonneau for the 5' box.
Pictures and more to come.

Sweet truck! I was reading about these last night. With the trailering package you have, it's rated to tow up to 7000 lbs and the payload is right around 1600 lbs. And as of 2017, with the new 3.6 rated at 308 HP and the 8spd auto, it should be 14.9-14.8s. I read where a guy had a bone stock 2wd and didn't know what he was doing and ran 14.6 when it was basically brand new, so those numbers should be real. Still has the 98mph limiter though. Might be looking into a power programmer before Spring?

I really like the stock 17's on there. Makes it still look like a truck. Some of the 18's and 20's although may be better for handling, don't look right to me on that truck. Looks real nice in white too. I'm a fan.

I had a busy morning, installed the mud flaps and the tonneau cover.
I had the bed liner installed. I wasn't happy with the install,
some heat from the torpedo heater allowed me to maneuver it
so I could put the tonneau cover on.

Still needs some little things, "GMC" for the receiver, automatic tailgate lock, overhead console garage door opener,
do I do "OH YEAH" again, K&N, chrome bling on the tail pipe, New licence plate, etc..

GM Performance makes a 3" SS exhaust for it with single 4.5" tip, and MBRP makes a nice SS system too. Bolt on with no mods. Would look sweet and probably ad a little sound too.
I just listened to the Flowmaster exhaust for this truck and it sounds great, without any rapping like the GM exhaust and not real loud inside the truck.
More than one guy said their mileage was noticeably better with a K&N drop in filter too.

My wife has the same truck and loves it. I've had the opportunity
to drive it many times and it's a nice riding truck with plenty of room inside so
it's comfortable to be in for a long drive. It has plenty of power and it gets about
20 mph with her driving mostly back roads and stop and go. There's plenty
of room in the engine compartment to work on it as well. Nice truck!

Nice truck! That should make a good Chumpcar support vehicle! :-)

Hey Fred! Great choice! That little six has 68 more advertised HP than my '89 Firebird Formula (240 HP) with a TPI SBC.

This I believe is the second new vehicle purchased by Fred32v. The first one he kept for 18 years.

BP's Ram had a powered remote locking tailgate. I really liked that so I purchased a Pop & Lock
and installed it on "OH YEAH" so the tailgate would lock with the drivers door.
The 2019 GMCs new have automatic tailgate locks but not the 2018's.
Last week I purchased another kit on eBay and it arrived Saturday afternoon.
Since the Jimmy did its' truckly duties yesterday when it hauled a large tire
changing machine and some tires from BP's to Mostmint, my Sunday was clear.

I watched this U tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWqZOvLtytQ,.

Then I spent 5 hours in the back garage and now the tailgate locks remotely
with power and opens with the passenger doors.

It's really starting to feel like my truck. Good fun! :D

I just watched the video and it was pretty straightforward as to what needed to be done. I'm sure the 8 minutes was oversimplified, but at least all the info was there. It's cool that you have that now!

Things are starting to happen. An early trip to Summit with BP, we found a $360 K&N Air Box Kit for $75
with no nuts or bolts. A trip to the hardware for $16 worth of stainless completed the package.
Then at Carlisle I purchased a $35 GMC license plate frame. Look real hard and you can see the GMC on the frame.
I had to change my license plate so I had that done, jimmy is not a FRED Z71.
FRED V6
FRED V6
A quick trip to TRP showed jimmy was in the 14.80s over 92 mph.
I found a set of new take-off rims for $125 and tpms sensors for $36 on eBay.
Then I ordered a set of Firestone WinterForce snow tires. My local tire store match the $142.99 on the Firestone site.
Should have those mounted and back to me this week. Won't put them on now, but looking forward to the snow.

After much research I talked to my local GMC dealer about a High Performance exhaust system.
He matched the GM Parts Direst numbers so I order it. It will be here this week.
(System is made for GM by Borla, slightly more expensive then Borla.)

I hope to have the K&N kit and the Exhaust installed soon.

It's a tall order to push "Little Jimmy Dickens" to shave off 8.5 tenths, but wouldn't a 13 second run impress the troops?

Hopefully, the exhaust and air intake will get him 3 or 4 tenths. If he's close to 13.90's he'll
want to search for the extra speed and will take it in for a tune @ Hutter's.

The snow tires are stacked in the garage waiting for the snow.

The K&N is in the store room waiting to be installed.

The GMC High-Performance 3" exhaust system is in the truck box waiting to be installed.

Maybe I might find some help after Saturday AM breakfast?
