So the GTO is finally home and figured I'd do a brain dump since it's been a while. I knew I had to invest a little for a "100 point inspection" and address the top items. The shop basically had to replace front/rear shocks, adjust rear 6-link suspension, put front springs back to stock, replaced master cyliner, and replaced all tires w/ white letter Radial TAs. Also included a tune and tightening a lot of loose stuff. Now it drives really well, but still runs a little rich.

At Carlisle, I ended up with the following treasures: Rearview mirror, mount and boot since the old one is foggy. A couple headrests in good shape. Window switches and door handle for passenger side that are a little pitted. And finally, a couple vacuum actuators for the hideaway lights. I think I can do most of that with my minimal skills.

Still researching and thinking about my fuel system. Option 1 is downsize from Holley 750 DP to a 650 DP or 670 Avenger. Option 2 is rebuild the original Rochester QJ. I sent pics to GMJohnny and he's concerned about the condition of the rusty linkage. Option 3 is going EFI, likely Holley. It's about $1600 in parts between the Sniper kit, EFI tank, pump, line, etc. Despite cost, leaning towards #3 for set and forget it.

Last, but not least, I plan on taking it to a highly recommended body shop near me to see what options I have. I have a quarter size bubble on the hood but pretty sure it's solid overall. Not sure if they can match, touch up, slap a clear coat on it or what. Definitely needs body panels adjusted too. More to come and not highest priority. I just want to know.

If it's running rich, you might just jet it down a size or two on the primaries. Is that a 400 engine?

Yeah, it's a 400 with a mild build. The shop dialed it back as much as possible.

Hopefully find some time soon to slap on some new parts, especially when it’s cooler. Need to get the tranny checked out too. 1st gear makes a weird creaking sound. All others are ok. In the meantime, enjoy some great pics of the wedding getaway car.

I think I’m putting this up for sale. Just finished getting tranny rebuilt after first gear starting knocking. Not enough time for two toys.

Well, it was fun while it lasted, but the GTO went to a good home a couple weeks ago. He also has a 67 GTO ragtop, 67 Firebird, and 77 Trans Am. New home is a little outside Detroit.

That was a nice car, but the truck is probably more fun. So if you're going to keep one, you made the right choice.
