Nice job, John. What brand stereo and speakers did you use?

I installed a head unit from a company called RetroSound.....that fit perfectly in the factory spots/holes. But the head unit is only so/so after all. (Chinese)

I have modern front speakers in my frontfactory (bung) hole that I think are actually made by Kenwood. I suspect that you don't really have the option to put 6x9s behind your seat unless you build boxes for them. And I've seen WAY too many people hack up their door panels by putting 6" round speakers in them. Sounds good....looks bad. And is a rough way to treat 46 year old door panels.

But yeah....the stereo and speaker install was more of a PITA than I expected. However, the ability to plug my iPod or iPhone into my head unit is really cool.

The stereo is a Custom Auto Sound unit and the speaker set up is made
by the same company also. I won't be hacking up my door panels to get
more speakers in the truck. There are some kick panel options out there,
but they admit that the speaker will be pretty close to the emergency brake
pedal. Being that the truck is a stick, the emergency brake gets utilized
whenever I park. I'm not going to contend with the potential of sticking my
boot through a speaker, so I will deal with what I have installed until I decide
I need better sound. A guy I talked to said that he used computer speakers
that he put under the seat and it gave pretty good sound. That may be an
option, but not now.

One of the reasons I got rid of my Corvette was because it was depreciating at a pretty
rapid rate. I told my wife and friends that the truck was going to be the substitute and
they thought that I was crazy. Once I started looking at these trucks as a potential purchase,
I realized that there is a pretty decent market for them. Check out #11 on this list, confirming
my suspicions!

Over the weekend I installed my "period correct" aftermarket navigation system.
I bought it at a local antique store. New in box for $9.00. I couldn't bring myself
to beat them down on the price, as it had the original two sided tape still on
it. I opted to install it on the windshield.

Look at the trim plate on the HVAC controls... spot on! That's so perfect.

It was a bit snowy today so I came up with an idea. It sure helps having
a good camera and wonderful editing capabilities on the computer! The
finished pics turned out pretty cool.

The first/top picture has the look/patina of an actual 1969 GM advertisement. I like it.

If you put a big wreath between the bell and the window of your garage, you've got a killer Christmas card. :D

Tony...

as my wife was doctoring the pics, I said the same thing about the color

Christmas card touch!!

This is not an apples-to-apples comparison....but it's interesting nonetheless:
