It would appear that Dave and I are going to hit the track tomorrow night. He on his two wheeler and I in the S10.

Hope to see you there. With social distancing rules in effect, there won't be any dancing. Nevertheless, we can still have fun.

TireSmoke, BP, and I were there.
Ready to run, low 12's
Ready to run, low 12's
I made 1 pass 15.05 @ 92 mph. It begin to rain on my return to the staging lanes.

I made the decision to leave. BP and 'Smoke were waiting.

Well, an interesting night, for sure. There was a pretty good crowd on hand this week, but the weather was looking a little suspect. Sure enough, at 6:45 it started sprinkling for about 15 minutes. I still hadn't gotten a time run. When they resumed after spending the better part of an hour drying the track, they announced that Animal and Bike would run 1/8 mile for eliminations. I finally pull around for my time run... and stalled it off the line. 3.96 60ft time. I know the bike runs mid 12s in the 1/4 and would've just dialed 12.75 like last week.

I knew last week's slips were on my desk, so I called Gwen** and had her read me my 1/8 mile times from last week. 8.12, 8.17 & 8.02. The weather was cooler this week, so I dialed an 8.05. I ran against a dirt bike who broke out like crazy, 8.13 on 8.80. I had a shaky start, but cut .12 RT and ran 8.26 on my 8.05. (** Paul pointed out that I had txt'd him pics of my timeslips last week, so I did indeed have them available to me on my phone)

For round 2, I decided to dial-up a bit, to 8.10. I cut a real good light, .06 to his .63. I totally had him covered, but being 1/8 mile, I'm not familiar *exactly* where the finish line is, esp at night, and I never really checked my mirror. I broke out with an 8.05. He went 8.06 on a 7.89.

Win or lose, always fun at TRP!

PS-- 1/8 mile sucks.

As noted, one time run makes it tough to dial in, especially if your time run was before the rain. But none of that matters when you go .0017 red in eliminations. I ran a 12.35 off the street and forgot to lower my tire pressure so I launched a little soft and it spun pretty bad on the 1-2 shift. In eliminations I dialed a .31 and ran a 12.24 with the aforementioned red light. I'm pretty happy with that number. I literally did no prep work for this race except the drag radials. Didn't touch the front tire pressure, didn't take a headlight out, and had a half tank of gas. Not to mention how crappy the air was last night. I do plan to go back next week and hopefully get a couple more passes than this week.

I'm really hoping they don't get shut down like the local car cruises due to covid. Unfortunately, if there was a health guy there, there wasn't much in the way of social distancing or masks so it didn't help their case IMO. Time will tell.

It was really good to just get on the track.
