Post by TireSmoker »

I'm heading out to TRP tomorrow with the Blazer to see what kind of improvements my torque converter made. Anyone care to join? Only 4 more Wednesdays left!!

Very hot, 90ish to start, never cool, rain and lightening threats.

When I arrived early, I was able to drive right up hot off the street to the starting line and run,
it was my best ET of the night,14.78 @ 92.78. My night was over in the 1st round with a -0.01 Red.
That run was a 14.83 on a 14.79 Dial @ 93.65 mph.

I really went to watch 'Smoke run with his Blazer and that new converter, etc..
He can tell about his improved numbers,
it was amazing and will only get better with reasonable conditions.

BP was there as well with the white Golf.

Nice to just drive out, race, and drive home again.

As always, TRP is great fun!

I got there early too and was able to make a pass right basically right away. As Fred said, the weather was miserable. Hot and humid. I think the DA was around 3700'. Off the street, first pass was 14.01 @ 97, with wheel spin limiting my 60ft to 2.14.

Next pass, I was able to get a better launch, 2.08 60ft and I ran 13.87 @ 98! This was the best pass ever, first pass in the 13s, and I think best-ever MPH.

3rd pass, I lowered the rear tires to 24psi, got a 2.06 60ft and went 13.85 @ 97.97. So, offically official 13 second car.
On those first 3 time runs, I had .15-.16 RTs

I took a 4th time run, this time against Paul and the FLOG. We both cut .08 lights, which was kinda cool to see on the boards. Wheelspin again, 2.14 60ft, 14.02 @ 98.

1st round, I'm up against this lifted Cummins. I ran 14.01 on a 13.95 dial to his 14.07 on 14.00 dial. I lost this round on the tree, .20 to his .09.

Lightning and weather were threatening, so I was fine being out first round. I got my 13 second pass which was what I came for.

Always a good time at TRP!

Cool video compilation. I was the only tiresmoker to make the second round last night. Don't get too excited though, I got a byerun in the first round... With the weather changing, I wasn't sure how much quicker my car would run. On my bye run I ran a 15.58 on a .60 dial. So I dialed a .57 for round 2. I pushed the tree because I knew the kid I was racing was pretty solid and I got a .04 light which sadly wasn't as good as his .02. Double breakout, my 15.47 on a .57 dial to his 14.32 on a .34 dial. Time to go home. Not sure how much longer they raced though, by the time we hit the main road not 2 miles away, it was raining. Still fun to see the Blazer well into the 13s and hang out at the track.
