Thompson Raceway Park

Post by Fred32v »

Well GMJohnny and I were there, 80 degrees and all.
Side by side we had our best ET's, his 12.90@109 to my 13.21@101.
With two 0.1 reactions, my 1.89 60' to his 2.02 had the V in front but
we were even by the eighth and he was leaving.
His next two passes had serious code problems, so we left.
Looks like the V's 12.49 time slip will be safe, at least until fall.

Fast87 was good enough to take our Tiresmoke shots.

Talking about Fast87, he went 9.57 @ 141mph!!! This is his best by a few tenths, and his belt is still slipping a little. Looks like the new automatic has helped. Keep in mind this is a street car and through the mufflers. He just bolts on slicks when he gets there.

I'll be there. Probably just to run my truck. The only thing different from last year is that I took the traction bars off and put the third shock back on. It rides and handles much better. I think it actually hooks up better too. The traction bars were only good for keeping the wheel hop down.

Another night (6/29/11) at TRP. I had my Silverado, BP with his S10, Smoke with his motor
and Malibu69 there with his 69 Chevelle auto 307.
My best pass was .04 reaction, 2.466 60', 1/8 10.47@68.57, 1/4 16.08@88.52.
Smoke and I were out in the first round, I was sleeping and TS saw red,
BP was beaten in the 2nd round, fella put a .0004 reaction on him.
Tony's 69 when 4 rounds dailing in the low 17's. He was out when he ran his best ever 16.95@80mph.
He went home with the biggest smile.

Even the Coyote was there looking for the Roadrunner.
As always, TRP was great fun, especially for the 69 Chevelle.

It sure felt good to be on a dragstrip again. Can't believe this is my first time out, and its almost July. It would've been nicer to put that 9-second bike on the trailer in the first round if I had went green. I went 12.72 on 12.70, with a -.0797 redlight. He went 9.67 on a 9.50 dial, so I had him covered by a lot, especially with his .47 RT (surely he saw me go red)

Maybe I'll have to work on getting a bike-class trophy this summer.. :-)

It was good to see Fatica doing so well. He ran a best of 16.96 @ 80 with his 307/TH350/3.08 combination. Stock 2 bbl, headers, dual exhaust. He doesn't have a tach, and he seems to think there might be more left. I think Paul predicted 16.80s, and I agree. On his first run, 17.3x, he left it in Drive and it really short shifted. He was going 64mph at the 1/8, and only 67 at the finish! Paul and I thought he had hit the brakes too soon. At the end of the night, he said he had a great time.

It was a picture perfect night for racing out at TRP. Clear, cool, the only wind was going across the track.. and it wasnt crowded. I left work a little early and went straight there. I got 4 time runs, all with green lights, and a best ET of 12.58, which is within 1-tenth of my best ever. Slowest was 12.67

1st round came around and I dialed in at 12.63. I got matched up with a crotch rocket dialed in at 11.55. Annnnnd I redlighted. Again. -.07 and I ran a 12.64 on that 12.63 dialin. GRRRRRRR...

BTW -- they are having a test-n-tune this sunday, july 17, and a gamblers race. I think the gates open at 9. I might just be there.

Used to work with a guy that said, "If you never miss a flight you're spending too much time in airports." Personally, I never bought into that (too hard on the nerves) but that attitude mght work at the starting line. :?:

My Reaction Times during time runs were .14, .21, .01 (stalled it off the line), and .05. so I thought I had a good handle on it.

I'll be back next week.. :-)

For comparison's sake for Maverick, it seems my S-10 is pretty close performance-wise. Here's my best pass from a couple weeks ago:

60ft 2.1340
330 6.3436
1/8 9.8559 69.47mph
1000' 12.92
1/4 15.5233 86.51mph
