Tractor Pull at NC State Fairgrounds

Post by wxo »

Randi and I attended the "Got to be NC" Festival on Saturday afternoon and the tractor pulling was in full swing so we sat down and spectated. We both had great fun watching the action.
This one was impressive: https://youtu.be/cd9kfV5uKP8
Here is a stocker "go Daniel, go": https://youtu.be/1XNNbw8oQ80
A hot Chevy pickup: https://youtu.be/eT68L8D0j_A
The next one was driven by Nick Fortune. I talked with him afterwards and he told me all about his tractor. It has a 700 cu in four cylinder and runs on propane!! https://youtu.be/AP7hdarqg4Y
He gave me is email address so I asked him about the problem during his run.
Here is his answer:
Hey Walt,
In the super classes we are required to have a safety kill switch, that way in case something happens the sled operator can turn off the tractor. I had been having problems with mine all day and it started acting up then so I turned around and pushed it back in, it ran awful the rest of the pull but it still pulled strong.
Nick

Here are some closeup photos of his tractor:

I've been to a tractor pull with tractors and semi trucks and enjoyed it a lot. I'm sure that game can be very addicting also. Talk about the need for strong parts!

My garden tractor is a model 1200 Cub Cadet. It's a very desirable tractor for guys who
like pulling. I see them all of the time hopped up and for sale. Like BP said, I'm sure
it's a hobby you can get sucked into pretty quickly on all levels. Boys and toys!
