Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

I've been thinking about your test on June 30. We don't have a lot of time, but if we work hard we probably can set it up like this.

What do you think :?:

Oh, wait. Forget it. Yours is a 2 door not a 4 door :(

Re: Summit 4-in-1 Gauges

Looks like a good deal. post pictures of your installation. Oh, one last suggestion. If it is a mechanical oil pressure gauge, it probably comes with that plastic line. Spend the 10 bucks and buy a copper tubing kit. The plastic ones break easy, and they can't be near any heat. You can usualy pick u...

Re: Summit 4-in-1 Gauges

That setup looks good. Was thinking the triplet of gauges would be too low but I'll have another look. Yes, the shift light would be nice. Yes, every car is different and it may not mount as prominently in the Maverick. The Sunpro tach is now around $40. They may have one with a shift light for a l...

Re: Summit 4-in-1 Gauges

Makes sense what you are trying to do. Here is a pic of my 62 Chevy and what I did. The triple gauge is a 2.5 inch inch face and easy to see, the tach is column mounted like they did in the 60's. http://s2.postimage.org/1l2ipjaqs/IM000271.jpg Imdon't remember the exact gauge pack I bought but this o...

Re: Summit 4-in-1 Gauges

Where do you plan to mount it? It looks like it is set up for a steering column mount. Do you think the gauges will be easy to see? They look small to these old eyes.

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

OK, here is my guess, 1/8 mile 9.95 sec @ 72.5 MPH, 60 foot 2.30 sec and 1/4 mile 15.25 sec @ 91.5 MPH :!: :?: Best reaction time, Holeshot should put up a 0.050 sec, maybe better. Wow! now i'm feeling the pressure. I have the most faith in your car and your ability  I picked the fastest time...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

14.70 would translate to about 9.40. That would be good.
I found this link on the internet, are any of these tracks near you?

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

Hows 'bout a little Pass Time? Respond with your guess as to ET. Car will probably be about 3200 lbs with me in it. 5.0 roller engine, stock HO cam, E7 heads with light porting, 600 CFM Summit carb, Edelbrock Performer intake, shortie headers, 2.5" exhaust pipes, Thrush Turbo mufflers, 2.25&qu...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

That's my first Thursday evening open. Wish I could do better for ya. AWW, I just hate to wait to get to the track if the car is ready. I hope Jim can get a lot of runs in. We sometimes are lucky to get 3 to 4 runs at a test and tune. Its amazing how many cars can show up for a test and tune. I hop...

Re: 1966 Corvette project, will I finish before I die?

Well, it turns out someone did take a picture of my Corvette at the Rhinebeck car show last month. I scanned it and here it is http://s2.postimage.org/2dv8durc4/Rhinebeck_1_2011.jpg Can't say that the color in photos looks like the color in person. Maybe it was cloudy when this was taken. I've since...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint - Phase 2

I like your thinking. These guys are close enough you could check it out yourself. The one thing I can tell you is you can't build your own motor for the price these guys crank out crate motors. It really is the way to go for street motors.
have you checked around for other similar deals?
