I think I will tackle the throttle linkage next, Dave. It, too, needs to be engineered. I hope that once I'm past that, it should be smooth sailing. I'm shooting for Spring Carlisle for completion. Now that the weather is turning colder, I'm not too keen on spending time in the cold garage. I've los...

Nellie Belle

http://www.tiresmoke.org/walt/nb0.jpg I got Nellie Belle for $167 including tax, title, and tags. My time at Wheels4Hope is finally paying off (I think). Then I bought the wheels and tires for another $100 from Craigslist. So with other miscellaneous items, I figure I've got about $300 in her. The ...

I put the whole clutch system back together today (hopefully for the last time). I decided to forget the search for special clutch fluid and just go with the synthetic brake fluid that I started with. I bled the master cylinder on the bench with the line attached, then installed everything. It seems...

Well, Bill it looks like you made it out of the gate before me. Great job!! Good to see the rubber meeting the road. Any chance we could have both our projects at Spring Carlisle?

Not much tangible progress this week, but here's where I am on the clutch. Jim Arnold and I spent a couple of hours this week trying get the air out of the system, but ended up in the same place...about an inch of piston travel in the master cylinder which doesn't do anything. The length of the tubi...

Bill, it took me long enough to get started, but I'm rollin' now (thanks to Fred). New information: While trying to locate exhaust flanges for my manifolds, I learned that there are truck manifolds with larger exit holes. Mine have 3 3/16 holes and the other has 3 7/16 holes. No use giving up some f...

I saw the steel line on a '93 F350 with a 7.3 liter diesel. I can only assume that the fittings are the same and the length is OK.

The clutch is working! (kinda, sorta). Whew! What a struggle this has been. I manage to boil, bend, and cool the nylon tubing into a shape that allowed me to hook up both ends. This stuff sure wants to remain in the shape it came in. Next, I enlarged the master cylinder mounting holes in the firewal...

http://www.tiresmoke.org/walt/helmet001.jpg  OK, now after considerable online research, I have a better understanding of the enemy. The tubing is 5/16 OD PA12 polyamide (nylon). It responds to molding by emersion in boiling water so now I should be able to shape the sucker to my needs. The h...

OK, guys, I could use some help on a sticky problem here at swap central. My stock 1988 Ford truck hydraulic clutch setup needs a hydraulic line between the master and slave cylinders. I have the stock plastic formed tubing (that fits an '88 Ford truck), but it has all the wrong bends and won't work...

Actually, Andy, I believe I was the only one to have a Holley spreadbore back in those days. I'm sure Fred will correct me if I'm wrong. And... as to Fords using spreadbores...it is a little known fact that the 429 Cobra Jet motors of 1970-71 ran 715 cfm GM QuadraJets. It was Ford's "better ide...

I spend a few hours this morning finishing the rebuild of my Holley 6210 spreadbore. The inclusion of this carb adds a bit more history to this project. I bought this carb in the early '70s to replace the quad-jet on my '67 Nova SS. I'm really glad to be able to use it on the 460. I chose the Edelbr...

I just wanted to see if anyone was paying attention! Good job, Fred. I should have know you would be watching with your eagle eye. To continue... As much as I didn't want to do it, I believe I'll elongate the mounting holes and move the master cylinder on the firewall. Once I get everything lined up...

OK, here's my first update since Fred left. I'm working on converting the mechanical clutch to a hydraulic clutch. I had a custom lever made to match the mounting position of the master cylinder on the firewall. Well, the match made in heaven turned out to be a bit off. So I did some creative modifi...
