I liked this comment by the expert Large plug gaps came into vogue with car makers in the late 70's and early 80's. The thinking is that the larger flame kernal would help get better emissions. Most automakers now use .030 to .040 gaps today. Even the LS series engines went to .040 after initally ca...

Acceleration in Perspective

The most surprising datum to me was the only 900 revolutions for a run!!! Acceleration explained. >> >> >> >> >> >> * >> One Top Fuel dragster outfitted with a 500 cubic-inch >> replica Dodge (actually Keith Black, etc) Hemi engine >> makes more horsepower (8,000 HP) than the first 4 rows at >> NASC...

My first round was great! I cut an .01 light and ran a 12.59 on a .58 dial which was necessary as the competetion cut an .03 and ran a 10.63 on a .62 dial. Pretty tight race. Impressive!! A 12 sec car on 255s!! 255X60X15s are alleged to fit in the Mav wheel wells but I'm planning 235X60X15s to be s...

More Paint Pictures

WXO stopped over yesterday to check out the first good color coat on the body and take some pictures. I'm hooking up the SCUBA regulator to my fresh air supply (SCUBA tank in the corner, rotating boom) to demo it for him. The plastic sheets is to keep the dust out of the paint. Worked quite well. Sw...

Don't know if we told you but when WXO last ran the 1/8th my son and I also took the Explorer to get some numbers and have some fun. I paid the $5 entrance fee and got a number but it was so crowded I didn't get in line. WXO only got one run before he gave up too. We'll try again but arrive at the t...

Not sure what I'll bring to run this Saturday. The "V" or the "Truck". I think I'll wait and see how good the weather really is. Anyone else with a vehicle that could be a good challenge for my 16.20's 16.30's truck? If you were closer, I'd give you a fair go at the Explorer. :t...

Paint gun working

For two weeks i've been messing with my paint gun because, after spaying primer, it was not putting out the color coat. FINALLY figured it out and should now be on my way. Here's the first good coat of color on the hood. Paint flows out nicely with minimal orange peel which will be fixed with color ...

Can't remember if this suggestion was posted on this forum or another so this might be a redundy. You might cut the brake line at the leak and bend the upstream end over to seal it. Do a little bleeding if necessary and carefully drive it home with 2 or 3 wheel brakes, depending on where the leak is.
