Re: 2005 Yamaha Raptor 660

Lowering the front end by that much has a positive side effect, and that the front track will increase by about 2" adding to the stability of it. Probably not a huge issue on a short drag, but if I run the 1/4, I expect that will help. From what I've been reading, it should be mid to low 8's in...

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52

On Saturday we swapped the autocross tires off and stacked those back up. We then stuck the car back in the corner and put the battery tender on it as it most likely won't be getting much use until spring. We also made another list of things to do to it this winter. Some are maintenance, most are up...

Re: 2005 Yamaha Raptor 660

So I've been kind of busy on the Raptor. After deciding a quick carb cleaning wasn't going to make it run correctly, I ordered a new Mikuni carb rebuild kit online. It comes with a parts breakdown, so it was pretty easy to figure where everything went. I removed the carb and soaked it in a hot clean...

Re: 2003 S-10

I left this one in the ditch. She wasn't too big or worthy of breaking my back for. It was about the same time of year, and you're right, it was just north of Fairmont on 306. It might have been the first time I used a cell phone when you arrived on the scene in your sweet Mustang GT! I started the ...

Bad day for S10 fans everywhere. My first deer collision since I was 16.

C4 Corvette fuel starvation fix

Based on the discussion with WXO, that factory tray I learned is not enough, and tends to come undone over time. Something like this is the fix. I know Andy and I have talked about it, but until now have yet to visualize it. Here's someone's writeup: No, but it was quite easy once the concept was th...

That's very interesting. I'll have to look into interchangeability. That's good info.

2005 Yamaha Raptor 660

Apparently I have a problem. I like the dirt drags, but there's a lot of down time between practice and the actual races for a guy who runs his Corvette in only two classes. The solution is shown here in the form of a 2005 Raptor 660. Initially I was looking for 250-300cc models, but ultimately thos...

I'm going to look into it. It's a big tank, and half full is ten gallons. I would prefer to be at 4-5 gallons race weight. I still can't believe the factory let this high performance car slide by like this.

Re: online videos of whatever

So, it seems we don't have a lot of new ideas today, compared to 50 years ago. Maybe better and more common execution, but not much else. Interesting watch, plus the old cars are always cool.

Re: Autocross Dragway 42 Sun, Nov 5, 2023

I cleaned the Vette up Sat afternoon and installed the stickers before I left figuring it would just be easier on a clean car than a dusty one. Turned out it got real dirty as it decided to Lake Effect rain while I was in Lake Co and then once I got into Medina, the FOG rolled in. Apparently the Med...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

The nice thing for you is that winter there isn't like winter here so you will be able to keep driving it and enjoying it now that you've gotten ahead of it.
It's pretty much all functional at this point, right?
