Re: 1969 Chevrolet C20 Custom Camper Truck

Wait. Whaaat?? I didn't even get to see the big tires??? Not nice. You need to consult with me before making such decisions. And for an Oldsmobile? That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Good luck shopping. Prepare for sticker shock in that year range, but it is always good to get rid of a vehicle...

Re: TRP August 9th, 2017

That is a serious win streak, BP. You and that truck are an awesome combination for this launch and run consistency game. I only wish you would knock me down a notch on the best ET board. I always liked being the fastest in a class, but when you start giving more than five seconds, it becomes really...

Re: 2012 Nissan Xterra

I was worried about that contribution to error when I first flipped down the visor. I devised a method to solve the problem. I simply open the mirror on the visor and adjust the visor until my eyes sit just about in the middle of the mirror. That is actually a pretty repeatable position, as long as ...

Laser guided Nissan

Even BP’s truck isn’t laser guided, so this has got to be cool - well, maybe not. Our garage is a nice deep garage at 24 feet, but I like having room to work and we need to store a lot of gear out there so precise parking of the vehicles is a goal. The Mazda was easy since it is a low vehicle that i...

Re: 2012 Nissan Xterra

I have a home. I have a garage. I have a work area. For the first time in seven years, I can actually work with tools in a comfortable environment again. Yesterday I completed two minor Nissan projects. I mounted a bar in the cargo area with two bicycle mounts on it. The Nissan is big enough to put ...

Re: 2012 Nissan Xterra

We are now in Buffalo and have already signed up to rent a townhouse that has a two-car garage so it will be nice to be able to occasionally crawl under a vehicle again. My shipping and receiving department (GM and wife) came through big time for me, delivering the Nissan to Paul Carson for some bas...

Re: 1969 Chevrolet C20 Custom Camper Truck

I can't seem to find any clear information in going from bias ply to radial. I did find another reference to this 92% aspect ratio for numbers ending in zero (and I checked my math which still says 29.8 diameter), but I also found a chart that indicates an effective (they called it highway) diameter...

Re: 2017 Mazda3

The car is a little over a month old and now has over 5000 miles. I just had the oil changed here in South Carolina. The Mazda dealer around the corner from my parents went out of business so I just took it to a Firestone service center. It really was just an oil change on the schedule at this point...

Re: 1969 Chevrolet C20 Custom Camper Truck

Alright, I'll drive down from Buffalo on a Wednesday to see the finished product. It does sound like you made up this blown belt excuse, though. I am not sure I found a good source for tire sizing for those 7.50 X 16's. What I found says that if they include a zero at the end of the number, the sect...

Re: 1969 Chevrolet C20 Custom Camper Truck

I have been watching older trucks while driving around the country and really noticing how far under they tucked the tires. That was a really strange design and it does look pretty silly. I think your old tires are 29.8 in diameter so the 245's are only 2% bigger. The 265's are 6% bigger which will ...

Re: 1969 Chevrolet C20 Custom Camper Truck

I have always been a fan of putting on the biggest that will fit. In the old days, we had our choice of big truck tires, 31's, 32's, or 33''s. It seems to me that almost any truck could handle 31's without any cutting or lifting so that was what I had on my 82. If my math is correct, the 245's are m...

Re: 2017 Mazda3

Here are a couple pictures from the day after I picked it up. I can't take a picture now because it is really dirty. Our cabin is on a dirt road and it has rained and snowed a little this week. Ride quality is pretty good, although I would probably have liked it better with 16's as I think the 18's ...

Re: 2012 Nissan Xterra

I returned from Australia and checked out my old vehicle. The years are starting to show, even though the miles are still low. GM Johnny is having it serviced and inspected for me while I am on vacation in South Dakota. The only things I accomplished in my week in Ohio were putting on the license pl...

2017 Mazda3

On our first morning back in Cleveland, we picked up our brand new Mazda 3 Touring 2.5 hatchback with a 6 speed manual. I bought the car without ever driving one or even sitting in one, but I tend to trust Car and Driver’s reviews and I could tell from the pictures that I really liked the interior. ...

Re: 2012 Nissan Xterra

Here's a couple more pictures that came across the wire. That vehicle has now traveled further by sea, air, and flatbed then it has under its own power. Hey, GM, did you happen to check the odometer? It should be under 7900.
