I loved these cars so much, I got a job at a Saturn dealership. Make sure you check the oil regularly! Over about 80,000 miles, the rings start to stick in the pistons, and the engine will go through a lot of oil. Run low on oil and the timing chain loses tension, then gets wadded up and spit out of...

The hood safety latch on my latest car was siezed. The previous owner said that it was extremely difficult to operate so it was better off this way. Four months or so of ownership later, you can guess what happened. 10 seconds with Kimball-Midwest penetrating oil (makes PB Blaster seem like WD-40) a...

A friend of mine told me about that. Seems a friend of his local to him in Southern California had a clutch master cylinder start to bypass. So, being resourceful, he drained out the brake fluid and installed gear oil. I think he was hoping that it would swell the seals, or maybe would just be too v...

I usually just use the tubing method, myself. I had to when I installed the hydraulic handbrake in my rallycross car. (Like everyone said, it was a complete pain to do) The cup seals ARE meant to mainly seal in one direction, after all. If you let the pedal swing up quickly, it draws fresh fluid pas...

I just take a 7/16 drill bit, drill hole in cap, and stick a tire valve in there. Then use a bicycle pump.

It's the ONLY way to bleed the clutch, after you flush out the DOT-3 in favor of 80W90.

It made me do a double take. It appears that the intake is not reversed... it's just an entire fullsize car engine. At least, I don't think Fox Mustangs had the A/C compressor way up there on the passenger side. Foxes ran the airbox on the passenger side, fullsizes ran it on the driver's side. Plus,...

Michigan and Indiana, two states that border Ohio, are at 70mph. I forget what PA is at, but given their drivers I see in Ohio, I assume that it is 50mph and driving in the center or right lanes is discouraged there. Or maybe they just develop those habits because PA puts a tollbooth in the middle o...

I've always maintained that the time saved by driving faster outweighs any extra fuel expense. Even at $4/gallon. My previous RX-7 got best fuel economy at 80mph. Did almost 33mpg on one trip. I realize that this is the exception rather than the rule, but it's still something I find amusing. My curr...

From what we've seen, quite a lot. Can't wait for them to be public.

We're trying out a rallycross series like that. The course is about 75% pavement (it's run at a circle track with a 1/4mi and 3/8mi) and 25% dirt, and the cars are run two at a time. First one to stop in their starting box wins. LOTS of sturm, drang, sliding, locked brakes at the end, etc. It's huge...

Actually in most of the world it WAS the Passat. The Fox is a kind of Brazilian half brother, everything is the same but not quite, sort-of. I suppose it's like the difference between an Australian Falcon and a US Falcon. IIRC it's only 3000 ever made. For some reason 1085 produced in 1986 springs t...
