OK, then. Sounds like $1000 will buy a lot of octane booster for a whole lot less work. I'll bet you don't put enough miles on that car to use up $1000 worth of octane booster even in your lifetime. Just food for thought.

I've read about the effects that cam specs have on reducing the effects of higher compression. I think the overlap bleeds off some of the compression. Perhaps you can contact Comp Cams help desk and ask them about it. Maybe between GMJohnnie's idea and a change of cam, you can save a bundle of cash.

For all project, service and maintenance activities, I require a properly filled out Maintenace Request Form (MRF). They will be prioritized and acted upon as time permits. Ask Randi. She will explain how it works.

When I first looked at your picture, I forgot that it's a transversely mounted motor. Now I understand why you think the mark is due to the motor rocking under high torque. Maybe you better chain it down . Can you rev it up from the engine bay and watch what happens?

Did you do a CarFax on this car before you bought it? Maybe it was in an a front end collision. I can run a CarFax for you if you haven't done it.
