Re: 1971 El Camino

You could already turn a profit. Looks great!

I'm going to look into it. It's a big tank, and half full is ten gallons. I would prefer to be at 4-5 gallons race weight. I still can't believe the factory let this high performance car slide by like this.

Re: online videos of whatever

So, it seems we don't have a lot of new ideas today, compared to 50 years ago. Maybe better and more common execution, but not much else. Interesting watch, plus the old cars are always cool.

Re: Autocross Dragway 42 Sun, Nov 5, 2023

I cleaned the Vette up Sat afternoon and installed the stickers before I left figuring it would just be easier on a clean car than a dusty one. Turned out it got real dirty as it decided to Lake Effect rain while I was in Lake Co and then once I got into Medina, the FOG rolled in. Apparently the Med...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

The nice thing for you is that winter there isn't like winter here so you will be able to keep driving it and enjoying it now that you've gotten ahead of it.
It's pretty much all functional at this point, right?

Autocross Dragway 42 Sun, Nov 5, 2023

This will be my first autocross in awhile. I raced the firebird a couple time. The high temp is supposed to be only 54 degrees there, so I'm not sure how well my 100 treadwear tires will do with no real heat in them. Hopefully the sun is out at least. Because of ridiculous SCCA rules, I'm in some ra...

I do remember reading this. I like Steve Magnante, he's my kind of screwball.

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52

As happens many times in life, expectations go unmet. Friday night 42 had a TNT that Dave and I went to. I had a chance to make three solid passes with the Vette and the new converter. The track is always good there, and I had three solid passes, a 13.71, a 13.70, and a 13.73 with my best MPH being ...

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52

Today we finally got all of the pieces of the puzzle back together and we're able to get the Vette off the jackstands. With 10qts of tranny fluid the stick showed full before our test drive. The converter definitely feels peppier both off the line and through the gears. One quick test let me brake t...

You're like a minor celebrity. Good work. I'm sure that wasn't easy, but they were interesting and seemed to keep everything moving along smoothly.

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52

Yeah, saw it, which is a bummer. But there are still other things to do if it ever stops raining. We're in a really dumb weather pattern and it doesn't seem to be going away any time soon.

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52

We've been working on the torque converter swap since last week sometime. So far we have three sessions maybe 3-4 hours each, but we're getting close to having it back together. No major surprises, just a lot of steps. The transmission jack from Harbor Freight though not perfect, made handling the t...

Re: 1981 corvette project

I like the car, but you might be high on the price here IMO. Nice ones in this body style are under $10k and ready to drive.

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

My cruise doesn't work either, but the multifunction switch looks to have actual damage to it and I believe it's the culprit. I'm curious if this fixes yours. I'm actually planning to pull the cruise assembly off for weight savings this winter. I'm assuming our systems are significantly different at...

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52

After some discussion with my buddy Tony Reed (he's the guy I go dirt racing with...maniac with a 2 stroke 4 wheeler), I decided my rear dirt tires needed more block than they have. He has a tire grooving tool that he let me borrow, and I hacked up my tires for about 2.5 hours yesterday morning. Thi...
