Re: Software Update
Registration has been opened up and the challenge questions to stop the spambots have been changed also. It was encouraged to use questions which were not easily found on Google, so the two questions are: What's the nickname of the orange turbo malibu? What's our road race team name? They only need ...

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion
BTW, Scott's friend Jason, who sponsors the team via his company, has told Scott to get 2 (!!) more 3.0-S2 engines.

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion
No, the correct answer will be to figure out how to use the factory crank sensor back by the bellhousing. That will eliminate this bracket all together. That bracket might be nice for street use, but is not positioned well for an endurance racecar, IMO. Scott only sent me a little 10-second video of...

Re: 2014 Ford F-150
~81,000 miles A couple weeks ago, I started getting a bad/weird vibration in the Tiresmoke TurboTruck while taking the dog to the vet. It was bad enough that I pulled over to see if there was a big stone stuck in the treads or something. Didn't find anything. I made it home with only minor vibration...

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion
Well, Mid-Ohio is in the books. Hindsight is 20/20, and we should've waited for a trackday to shake it down. We got to the track on Friday morning for practice. While warming the car up, I noticed the alternator wasn't charging. It was a brand new alternator that Scott had installed between the time...

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52
Paul sent me a couple videos on my phone and It. Is. Hilarious. It looks like a lot of fun.
Maybe Fred needs to drive it -- just to ensure all the drivers are wearing cowboy boots!

Re: 1963 Corvette
So with barely a few drives on the new exhaust system, both donut gaskets failed miserably, but of course not at the same time. First the driver's side, and I swear not a week after I did that one, the passenger side failed. I got the passenger side replaced yesterday with the departure of the Porsc...

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52
I made a trip to the Tiresmoke Munson outpost to pick up a little hardware for the Porsche project and to see the DirtVette in person!

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion
The 944 went back home to Scott's today. I was able to do a little street driving with it the past couple days and I have a rough tune in there. It starts and idles easily, I plan to do a little more tuning during our Friday practice session. This one was a hard project to document, because I was st...

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion
Also, Tom came over again last night and we got the timing belt cover put back, zip tied some wiring and took it for the first test drive -- just down my street and the next street over to the cul-de-sac. I'm sure I looked pretty hillbilly to the woman and her daughter near the cul-de-sac with no ho...

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion
I discovered it by posting a thread on the msextra.com/forums -- in TunerStudio, you can take a 'tooth log' which shows the trigger pattern seen by the CPU in detail. I don't know how to analzye/interpret those logs, but there are guys on the forum who know and help. So I posted a bunch of logs, mad...

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion
This setting. Which, ironically, is what I use on my Chevelle and Malibu, but its a different sensor, and the default is to use Rising Edge. Even when my cars were set wrong, they still started up and ran. I mean, the Chevelle ran *great* with the wrong setting until 5100 RPM, when it had a hard cut...
