All good points you make, but I'm done with this mini project. The big flex fan cools just fine, it won't quit on me, and didn't cost all that much except for my time. There's not much sense in fixin' what ain't really broken. I need to move on to other issues if I'm goin' to drive this thing up to ...

I already gave electric fans a lot of consideration and decided against it/them. There are four reasons not to use electric fans: 1) Price of the fans 2) Cost of upgrading the alternator and wiring to handle the fans 3) Complexity of installing the shrouds. I was advised not to use the fasteners tha...

This new arrangement seems to work real well. Don't stand too close to the front of Ol' Blue when she's running. It'll suck you right up against the grill and you won't be able to move. But, now that I've gotten to this point, I'm thinking that I'd really like to find a viscous clutch and fan...

Beatin' the heat.

The current heat wave in Raleigh has caused a cooling system problem on Ol' Blue to bubble up. On a hot day with the AC on idling for a long time, she got so hot that the pressure cap released a geyser of steam and water. After checking things out, I decided that the problem is fan related. T...

It looks like I'm not alone with vehicle troubles. My Jeep is in the shop having the rearend torn apart as I speak. My truck is having overheating problems. (It's never been tested in 100+ degree heat before). Can anyone swing by Raleigh and pick me up?

I don't know if it will attach to my Holley or not. I'm assuming I will be able to use the bracket with modification or if nothing else use it as a pattern to make a bracket that will mount the solenoid. I don't expect it to bolt right up.

Cheap is good! :D

I don't have a use for the carb. I'm running a spreadbore intake and my Holley is doin' just fine, thanks.
I thought maybe Andy could bring the solenoid and bracket to Carlisle and we could finish our business there. How much do you need to get for the solenoid and bracket, Andy?

Throttle solenoid

Since I know that this group has a treasure of old parts squirreled away, I have a request for a part. I want to add a throttle solenoid to the Holley on my truck to bump up the idle when the AC is turned on. Any old throttle solenoids in your parts?

Rev limiter?

OK, I'm probably missing something here, but why are you rev limiting a SBC at 5k? Couldn't that contribute to the MPH falling off? I'm sure you have this all figgered out, but inquiring minds sometimes need reminding.
