Re: Dunn Benson Drag Strip
Pretty sure Fred32V was referring to what we, back in the 60's, sometimes called "Clarabell" wheels. Here is a picture of the Ramchargers Dodge, which is the first i remmeber seeing with these. So if you can find stock type wheels, this is an option http://s14.postimage.org/m6bwazu5p/Clara...

Re: Dunn Benson Drag Strip
Do the time slips at 1/4 mile tracks typically also show 1/8th mile times? Yes, you'll typically get 1/8 mile ET + 1/8 mile MPH. -Dave You will also get 1000 ft. So you should have your Reaction Time (usually a bummer), 60 ft, 330 ft, 1/8 mile, 1000 ft and 1/4 mile et and MPH. Thats the dat you wil...

Re: Dunn Benson Drag Strip
Actually they advertise line locs as a safety device. You know as a way to hold on a hill. So it would be for safety That's good!! Also, how about a leak-down tester for front brakes? Many of the serious racers do have a brake pressure gauge on the front brakes. So they will see "leakage...

Oh, MAN!! Another project.
Sounds good, other than no line loc. I'll try it with left foot on the brake. Thanks.[/quote]

Re: Dunn Benson Drag Strip
Along the lines of what BP said.. You want to be completely OUT of the water when you start your burnout. Otherwise you are just throwing water all over and up into the wheelhouse and chassis, where it will drip back out when you stage. Go into the water, no line loc, hit the throttle to spin the ti...

Re: Street Tires on the Track
Definitely cars with street tires do screw up the rubber left down by the faster cars with slicks. Never thought about why, but it is true. BP and Mostmint both make sense with their thoughts. In any event the street tires actually pick up the rubber at the start line. Most of he tracks, on race day...

Re: 2000 Regal GS
I think it was 2008. I was driving my driver car 1998 Grand Prix on the Taconic Parkway doing about 75 mph. I heard a loud BANG! Immediately thought 'blowout" grabbed the wheekl with both hands, but nothing happened. As i glanced in the side view mirror I saw lots of white smoke from the driver...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint - Phase 2
onee inch spacer is too much. I doubt your studs are long enough for that. Keep looking One inch spaces bolt onto the hub using the existing studs and come with another, clocked set of studs to mount the wheel. Think the existing studs have to be shortened a bit to not interfer with the wheel. http...
