AllData

I'd spend $25 at AllDataDIY.com for a subscription to the shop manual info and access to the Technical Service Bulletins for that vehicle. Or, maybe you already have access? I used AllData when my wife's DeVille's crank sensor went bad. There was a TSB for it. Didn't help me with warrantee coverage ...

Reassembly in Process

Received the replacement timing cover. Man, was it DIRTY!!! No kidding, there was so much dirt built on on that cover that a 3/8" pipe plug was hidden in the dirt. Spent several hours getting it cleaned up but it's looking good now. Had to look a little to find a 3 mm bit for the ring grove cle...

If you put a racing seat in there it'll be cheaper than a new interior, and the car will be lighter. you can always buy the interior when you sell the car you win on "pinks all out
".

Whoa, that's a bad idea. Wife wouldn't like sitting on a stool.

Hey 32V,

Impressive numbers!!

If I needed new pistons or crank work, I would have considered a stroker kit. Since bore and crank were OK as is, I couldn't see the additional $1000. I still have to buy paint and an all new interior.

FUN!!!!

I had a great time. I drove the Z most of the way to the track. Fun car!!! Didn't really get into it but it feels really fast but with good highway gears. Nice clutch. WXO offered to let me take a run at the strip but I declined. Didn't feel comfortable enough with the gearshift and wouldn't want to...

Update

Block and heads are back home. Clean with brass freeze plugs, new cam bearings, and heads surfaced. Crank bearings inspected and miked -- all OK. Cam looks good. Valve springs checked out OK but, bought some .030 shims to stiffen them up a little. Machine shop checked spring travel and there is room...

302 Timing Cover

Anyone have a Ford Windsor timing cover lying around? Need the older style with std rotation v-belt water pump, dip stick in the cover, fuel pump mounts in the cover. Any Windsor will do.

Does the green VW count? No. :D Not mine. That car was donated to the charity where WXO and I used to turn wrenches. I just restored it. Got egg on my face for the comments I made about Beetles in that tread. A GOOD OLD friend (went to kindergarten with this guy and we're still in touch) has...

Re-ring kit

Think I finally have the engine components that came with my "1988 Mustand HO" engine sorted out. Its equivalent to a 1986 HO. 1987-95 E7TE block. Used in both HO and non-HO assumblies. 1986 HO heads (E6SE), which are crap. Have 1987-1995 E7s to port and install. Cam is HO. Confirmed that ...

Doug Thorley Shorties

The only headers that will allegedly fit with no mods on the Mav with PS, column shift, auto, oil filter in place, ... are the Doug Thorley shorties. They even list Maverick in the applicatons for this header!! I really like them. These are polished ceramic. Got them from Summit. Have to see if ther...
