Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint - Phase 2

Its been a hectic couple of weeks. It started with a 2 day race in Numidia Pa on Aug 6 and 7. The next day is wasted because i got home at 2:30 AM Sunday night. I had to get ready for a week at the Jersey shore (Long Beach Island), and a 2 day race as soon as I got back. So i had to get the car turn...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint - Phase 2

WOW! I'm gone for a week or two and you are moving at blazing speed! Great about the progress on Phase 2! Converters are like a black art. But your instincts are right about having too high a stall speed. It won't lock up at low rpm driving speeds. 2500 stall should be no problem. The only "pro...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

Oh that Maverick is lookin REAL GOOD! How wide the Radial T/As you bought? It looks great. Minor picky thing, you can get complete chrome valve stems that screw on. No black rubber showing. But I'm too picky!

Re: '97 thru '99 Camaro SS wheels 17x9

I'm pretty sure the offset is 2 inches based on the casting numbers (17X9J 50). I believe the 50 is the offset in mm (2 inches). Not to be picky, and I can be wrong about this, but I always understood "offset" to be the distance from the wheel center to the OUTSIDE edge. Backspace is the ...

Re: 2008 Trailblazer SS

I always would test thermostats by putting them in a pot of water with the burner on and used a simple thermometer in the water to check opening temps. The guns are new, would never thought of trying that.

Re: BFG Radial T/As

Wow! Just got back from vacation and saw this thread. Hard to believe Radial T/A's were backordered. These have been continuously popular tires in all sizes, especially 15 inch which is popular with restorers. It was nice to see you got a response WITH a phone number.

Re: 2008 Trailblazer SS

Ok, I'm back on my transmission cooler thing. I ordered a B&M SuperCooler and a filter kit from Advance Auto when they had the 20% off deal this weekend. This was after searching around for a deep pan with temperature sender bung and having no success. As I stated earlier, in response to BP's s...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

Maverick, Just to got to see your dragstrip performance. Even thoigh my 'PassTime" was way off, you did a great job. The video i saw looked good and you and WXO looked neck and neck. Glad you had fun. As Mostmint said, you really DO NOT want to hot lap it. You need time for it to cool. Open the...

Re: 2008 Trailblazer SS

Tiresmoker's advice on staging is right on. Don't think about power braking until AFTER both staging lights are on. And then, I wouldn't bring the RPMs up until you see the first yellow. If that is difficult, they do move quick if you are not used to them, then bring the rpms up slightly when staged...

Re: 2008 Trailblazer SS

I would have thought that your SS already has a tranny cooler in it. It has the stock one in the radiator, but I like the idea of the additional cooling that the aux cooler will give. It makes good sense to me. Since I've asked this question, I've been finding a lot of options out there. I guess I'...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

Focus on the good! That tach looks awesome mounted there :!: The face size is perfect too. Maybe the memory module is very old. I know my "personal" memory module stopped working after about 50 years
