1966 Corvette project - Part 2
Well, now that i finally finished my Vette and got it back on the road, I am changing it around for next year. The changes will be: a 383 motor a 5 speed air conditioning power steering quieter exhaust updated sound system (since I might be able to hear it) Currently I am getting a Blueprint Engines...

Re: 1963 Corvette
Hey Oldvettedad.... Why are you going to switch the intake? Is the goal to get extra horsepower or do you want a certain look, or..... ? I changed the intake on my 87 442 from a stock aluminum intake with puny ports to a stock cast intake that I had ported and the benefits were noticable. Later on ...

Re: 1963 Corvette
For the entire summer, I just stuck with the Edelbrock Pro-Flo air cleaner. I had to cut off the little riser ring on the baseplate. The drop-base air cleaner might be an option -- it wasn't for me because I have an electric choke on the carb. Not sure it would've worked anyway. My solution is cert...

Re: 1963 Corvette
Tiresmoker, got a question. What did you finally do for hood clearance with your air cleaner? I'm planning some major mods this winter (i hope it will only be this winter). One of the mods will be a 383 engine and I'm trying to figure out a manifold combo that won't create hood clearance problems. M...

Re: 2008 Trailblazer SS
Looks good. Just for my info, what is the diameter of both the Spal and Z28 fans? Do you know how much CFM each pulls? And how many amps do they draw? Finally, pullers or pushers?

Re: 1966 Corvette project, will I finish before I die?
I don't need them. With so many Corvette parts now being reproduced the market for a lot of used parts is really down. But there are some parts where the repro's are not high quality and then original used are still in demand. I reused my rear bumpers because the new repro's from China were like tin...

Re: 1966 Corvette project, will I finish before I die?
very true. I have found its better to take a long time to finish your car, then keep it for a long time. Why? Because then I amortize the expense over a long enough period to make it seem not so much  BTW, I've been cleaning out my house and garage and was surprised to find in my garage about ...

Re: 1966 Corvette project, will I finish before I die?
That is a good price. I still have my original spinner hub caps, but now they are badly pitted and have rust. It would cost more than $225 to restore them. But I doubt i'll ever put hub caps back on. Who ever buys the car from my estate can do what bthey want

Re: A great car story.
Great story! Kind of epitomizes how we feel about our old rides. Makes tears come to my eyes when i realize that if only I had treated my kids better, maybe they would do something like this for me. Rather than get me committed as a dange rto myself and TAKING my cars for themselves  Just k...

Re: Thompson Raceway Park
My 58 Impala had a 283 4bbl with a powerglide. http://s9.postimage.org/tuyhtft7v/1962_TDR.jpg For what it's worth, I was there. Even saw Garlits' Swamp Rat run in 1958. I'm impressed that you would still have time slips from 1962. If irun across any other old photos from Thompson, I'll post them. T...
