Re: 1995 Camaro

So the car behaved fine the rest of the winter then started sitting for the summer. One day I had to drive it to pick up something and man did it run like crap! I drove it a couple more times and it got a little better but it was still missing. I tried fresh gas to no avail. Then I started getting m...

Nice. Just a preview of where you are going in the colder air next month.

I was fixing a furnace. a garage door, and a Camaro. I also participated in pumpkin carving and Monopoly. Maybe next time.

Re: Cast Iron Torqueflite!!!!

Sorry can't help either. I went as far as to get a book on the 700R4 since I had a rebuilt one that was never right (Gardner could not get it right) and I was trying to track down the problem. I don't even know any good Chrysler guys to recommend. Based on all the other stuff you have done I'd guess...

Re: GMIvy Buick

Hopefully someone a valuable lesson here at a relatively low cost.

I thought the car was going to be primer black from here on in - it turned out much better than that.

What kind of paint went on? Was it a base coat-clearcoat?

Re: Thompson Escapades (warning - long winded)

Nice! Will dense air make it faster? My race cars tend to go faster in the cold air. Maybe a trip to 42 in November is in order for you. Drop 10 degrees air temp and add another tenth maybe?

I just don't know if the colder ground will affect traction on your digger.

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

I think my memory of the blue was to use it with the 30 cc pump. Put more in faster but did not need the duration since the pump is smaller.

My latest prediction is that you would make more horsepower with a 650 CFM carb - at least.

Are you planning to put a better engine under this carb? It'll need more CFMs.

Lucky for you - you are not sentimental about these things. I apparently am - at least for now. http://s3.postimage.org/s5H2r.jpg These are in the stairwell to the basement . Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

Vacuum secondaries are also quite adjustable. If the spring is too firm it will not open all the way - and the manufacturer provided spring is usually one of the firmer springs. I prefer mechanical secondaries as you get more flow at lower velocity if the secondaries are open all the way. What is th...

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint

And I think the carb is a little oversized for my setup. Now I am even more sure that you need a bigger or faster accelerator pump shot. The idea of a "too big" carb is a misnomer in my opinion. The problem here is that when you crack the throttle, the air speed into the engine slows. To ...
