Re: 1990 Corvette Z51

I picked up my injectors and got started on the re-assembly process over the weekend. I got all the old gasket surfaces scraped and otherwise ready. The o-rings in the fuel rail feed & return lines look due for replacement, gotta dig up replacements. I cut the 1/4-28 screws into 4 studs and thre...

Re: 1990 Corvette Z51

Injector guy texted me this morning and said mine were ready. I asked if they were bad, and he said "no, not really." Hmm.. really makes me scratch my head why the car was running so poorly before I took it apart for this job. At least these will no longer be a question mark. Pretty sure I...

Re: 1990 Corvette Z51

I picked up a gasket set for the SuperRam at Summit last weekend. I also picked up some long 1/4-28 screws that I can cut into studs. Of the 16 bolts, only 4 are really tough. Some people make studs for those 4, which is supposed to help out a little bit. I got the injectors dropped off to Cleveland...

The SuperRam is a stupid intake

The injectors are finally out, but wow, what an effort to do so. This is such a trivially easy job on almost any other Chevy EFI intake I've played with -- my StealthRam, a 4-bbl single-plane EFI, Ramjet. But on the SuperRam, it is a several hour job. Actually, of those 16 bolts from the bottom, onl...

Re: 1990 Corvette Z51

I drove the car again this today and this misfire was even worse, especially in the beginning. Whatever the Techron knocked loose, I think they need to come out for a real cleaning. I've never really had to clean injectors like this before, and boy did I pick a doosey to start with. The Accel SuperR...

That thing looks super nice, cant wait to see it in person! I loved the '72 I had in the pre-Tiresmoke era.

Re: 1990 Corvette Z51

I've been driving the Vette a bit the past couple of weeks, even going to work a few times. The dash is still kinda glitchy and is very annoying. The backlight behind the digital speedo flickers constantly. The tach needle is still somewhat bouncy, although its still way better than before I had it ...

Re: Autocross Dragway 42 Sun, Nov 5, 2023

NOTES FOR NEXT TIME: I started the sessions with just over a half tank of gas and by my 5th run, started to notice that the fuel was splashing so much that I was already started to lose power on a couple parts of the track, so now when I leave home, I will make sure the tank is full. I remember tha...

first turbo pass!

After the failed T-n-T at Kuhnle, I dug into it again. I got the exhaust pipes near the turbo wrapped with good header wrap. Now I can run it comfortably with the hood on. I also removed and cleaned up with the water neck/upper hose, as there was a persistent drip coming from there when it would war...

Re: 1979 Malibu

So there's been a bunch of happenings/progress that I haven't gotten around to posting about until now.. including the first drives around the block, and (spoiler) an unsuccessful first test-n-tune at Thompson. First test drive.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiyHsOcMkFg Chris and I thought the cl...

Re: 2023 Kuhnle Motorsports Park Wednesday nights

Well, it was the last Wednesday of the season and we had great weather for racing. There was a ton of cars and friends out tonight. When they made the call for Stock class, it was 5 lanes! I went out on a mission tonight to try and bring home a trophy. Ive been really solid on the tree lately, but l...

Re: 2023 Kuhnle Motorsports Park Wednesday nights

I have to add one more pic.. this was from last week, just a time run, but i beat Paul on the tree. No small feat. But since his trophy collection dwarfs mine, i gotta collect my little victories where i can!

Looking forward to the season finale tomorrow night!

Re: 2023 Kuhnle Motorsports Park Wednesday nights

Wow, we've been out the past two Wednesdays and didn't write anything up. 9/13: This was my first time out with the Chevelle in quite a while between all the rain and the work on the Porsche. And my first pass turned out to be my best ever, 12.16 @ 110.28 !! Reaction.....60 ft.......ET..........Spee...
