Re: GM Carlisle 2012

Tentative plan is to pull our caravan into Bedford for Friday and Saturday night. That is about an hour and a half from Carlisle so I will drive from there (and back) on Saturday. It stays light pretty late that time of year so it should be a good long day. We will then be in Punderson starting on S...

Hmm, I think I might be passing through PA that weekend.

Re: AK Rover's Van

So in January I pushed my luck and drove 1500 miles to Colorado for ski season. It was still leaking coolant on the trip, but at a mere nuisance rate. The van sat for three months in Colorado. A couple weeks ago, I added a gallon of coolant and drove it around a little. A couple days later, I starte...

Coolant leak

My van has been sitting for two months while we were in Paris. Shortly after I left, my father informed me that it was leaking. I finally got a look at it today. Coolant was dripping off the back of the engine so I pulled the engine cover and traced it upward. Luckily the engine is still very clean ...

Re: 2008 Trailblazer SS

I did quite a bit of research on battery charging when I was trying to minimize generator run time while living in the trailer without an electrical hookup. That was awhile ago, but here is what I remember. Systems that are optimized for battery life charge at only about 13.5 volts. They don't recom...

Re: need cage work done

BP should be able to handle the welding and his suggestion on bending might be good, but some of the exhaust guys might not want to use their tube benders on the heavy wall stuff. I had my cage tubes bent by the Fastech guys (no idea if they are still around) in Eastlake and I did all the fitting an...

Re: Tim knapp's 460 swap into Walt's '69 F250

Thanks, Walt, for that dose of reality to help ease the sting of a missed opportunity  I remember the hassles of old vehicles, but I am probably foolish enough to fall for the charm again, even for a vehicle that I might need to depend on. It has been nice to watch this project evolve over the ...

Re: Tim knapp's 460 swap into Walt's '69 F250

In a strange way, I am glad to hear it is gone. Now I can stop trying to figure out if I should sell my van and get to NC for a very tempting new tow vehicle.

Re: AK Rover's Van

We are mostly just 'following our nose'. We are enjoying a vagabond lifestyle for an indefinite period. We are pursuing careers with the State Department. My wife made it through to the last real hurdle in their recruiting process and has a full day of interviews, presentations, group exercises, and...

Re: AK Rover's Van

We have been living in the rig for over 100 days now. I have put 12K on the van, more than half of that while towing the trailer. The van holds almost everything we own; I doubt I will ever buy another pickup truck. I have been reading about all the performance analysis everyone else is doing, so I ...

Six bikes gives us just the bare necessities: two full suspension off road bikes (fun), two ultralight road bikes (fast), and two heavy duty bikes set up for hauling gear (bike based fishing, photography, and camping)

Re: AK Rover's Van

We just got back from our first trip in the new rig. The van has been running great and handled the big trailer adequately. Recent work includes: • Adjusted the backup cameras to give better coverage of the hitch – works great • Fixed the RV plug wiring – wiring diagram was backward, not my fault • ...

I agree, this restoration is amazing. The rate of progress is impressive as well. Good job, Maverick. And I enjoy reading about something I understand, a good old fashioned Ford.
