Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion

So I haven't posted too many updates, because the car **still** doesnt run. The signal from the factory crankshaft position sensor would drop out to 0 while cranking. I tried reversing polarity, adding a 10k resistor, tried adjusting these 'pots' on the mainboard. Nothing was helping, the Megasquirt...

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion

So I got the injectors swapped during my lunch hour today. I removed the low-impedance 28lb injectors and installed high-impedance 30lb injectors. Still no start. Not even a cough, which was puzzling. Further troubleshooting revealed that the fuel lines were hooked up backwards. No wonder I wasn't g...

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion

It's been a while since I posted an update, but a lot of progress has been made despire losing almost a week to being sick and other assorted ailments. However, a lot has gotten done. I'm using the S2's factory 60-2 crank sensor. I'm seeing RPM signal when cranking the engine. I need to verify TDC a...

Re: 1987 Corvette Z52

I'm pretty sure the rear toe-in is adjustable -- there's a spec for it, at least. You might be able to fix it without losing your lowered stance.

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion

I got some progress under my belt here the past couple days. Starting with a cardboard template, I made a mounting plate from some aluminum (courtesy CutNPaste). I mounted the MS3X on some MSD rubber isolation mounts. I got fancy with the fuse panel and relays, using rivet nuts to mount them. No sel...

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion

The intake manifold is unusually large, I think.

Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion

Scott brought the Fickle Bitch Racing Porsche 944 over for a Megasquirt conversion today. The car was upgraded to a 3.0L S2 engine over the winter, which should be good for +60hp over the previous engine. Since I'm one of the drivers for Mid-Ohio in September, I have a very vested interest, and also...

Re: 2023 Kuhnle Motorsports Park Wednesday nights

Another fun Wednesday is in the books! I took the Chevelle out for, I think, the 6th time this season. I'm trying to make up for all the times I couldn't take it last year. It didn't feel like good air, and the DA was around 2500 when we got there, but I still put down a 12.39 @ 108 for my first pas...

Re: 1979 Malibu

Woohoo, it's back home! I picked it up on Thursday evening, was gone all day Friday, and started continuing with work on Saturday. I had to replace a few headers bolts that must've backed at at Dragway 42. I moved the Fan Relay, it was too close to the turbo. I'm waiting for a few more parts to fini...

Re: Chevelle Projects 2023

I did another 140 miles in the car yesterday. I headed out to Tony's in Avon, and then we continued on to Lorain to meet up with another member from chevelles.com. It's been a while since I've really driven it on the freeway and forgot just how good it is out there. I can run in the left lane with e...

Re: 1979 Malibu

Steve Jr. sent me a video last night of the car running as they moved it over to their lift! The last step is the rear gear swap, 4.10 --> 3.55. I believe I'll be picking it up this week!!

Re: Chevelle Projects 2023

Took the Chevelle on a nice looong cruise today, totaling about 250 miles! We went to Andover, crossed the Pymatuming causeway, then we headed north up PA 98 and made our way Presque Isle State Park, our 'destination'. We made a nice slow cruise through the park, and then started on our way back hom...
