The holes look good from the pictures. I would have a bolt that is
the correct size handy in case the stud is crooked and the flange
of the converter won’t fit over all of the studs. A bolt could be put
in last after the two studs are started. Just a thought.

1965 Oldsmobile 442 - 2023
40,068….. I started off the 2023 season today. A real quick check of fluids and air pressure in the tires and I was ready to start. No starting fluid required today, just some typical Rochester pumping of the carb and it fired off. I sat and idled so nicely while I checked for leaks, which there are...

47,090 … With no snow in the immediate forecast and a sunny and 50 degree Saturday morning staring me in the face, I swapped on my summer tires and put the snows on the rack. I think I have one more season left in the before it’ll be time to decide on getting a new set or not. For now, summer tires ...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette
WXO, I’m not certain about your feelings on this, but when I had my C5 I changed the whole carrier when I did a gear ratio upgrade. It wasn’t that expensive to do and I got a factory set up for under $400 ready to bolt in. I know nothing about the rear end in your car but I’m throwing this out there...

I think that somehow ( pinstripe maybe ) you should incorporate red or
maybe hugger orange as an accent color. Just a thought.

Does the paint look as good up close as it does in the pics? From the pics it
looks like it laid down nicely!

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette
Maybe others here can comment as well, but my understanding is that the crush sleeve
is already at the right amount of “crush” since all you did was remove the yoke. If this
was mine, I’d take an impact tool and run the nut down until it stops and call it a day.

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette
WXO, Depending on how snug that Speedi-sleeve is on the yoke, it might be a good idea to freeze the yoke over night in the freezer and put the sleeve in hot water for a few minutes to create a couple of thousandths play for you to work with. We used to do this a bunch when rebuilding bushings in exc...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette
WXO, There is a sleeve called “Speedi-Sleeve” that can be slipped over the shaft and might be an option as opposed to changing it out. You might want to consider this as a time saving option. https://www.skf.com/us/products/industrial-seals/power-transmission-seals/wear-sleeves/skf-speedi-sleeve GM

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette
I would consider drilling out those oblong holes and inserting bronze
bushings in the holes as an option depending on cost of the new part.
McMaster Carr might have what you need. Just a thought.

Re: Chevelle Projects 2022
Smoker,
It almost sounds like something is rubbing in there. Is there any sign of wear
marks on the torque converter? Maybe the flex plate is loose or cracked? Does
the converter bolt tightly to the flex plate without any gap?

44,289 … Yesterday there was a bit of a break in the weather, so I took advantage of it to get my winter oil change in. At 45* and dry, it was nice to not have to use a heater or lay in a drippy, salty, wet mess. There was nothing abnormal to report. At my 2 year anniversary with this vehicle, I can...
