Re: 13 Charger Mostmint # 40

struts are now installed. Not too bad of a job - nice that no camber adjustments needed. freeway test drive uncovered a rattle in the back so my zip tie fix was not good. Only letting off the throttle at highway speeds would cause it. So I made a little bracket to firm up the plastic bracket on the ...

Re: 13 Charger Mostmint # 40

As it turns out, my efforts to raise the center of the exhaust failed and all the rattles were due to the pipe hitting one support brace under the car. I had already put some washers in to lower it but that was not enough. I resolved this by bending the center of the bracket down to give more cleara...

Re: Impala SS

well it is aluminized pipe, but it has only been in the salt for about a month earlier this year. The metal still feels firm and does not yield to hammer tapping. We'll see once it gets welded how thin it is.

Re: Impala SS

Noticed a heat shield was loose so went to fixing it last night. Had to replace a plastic river that holds part of the heat shield. While under there I noticed a crack in the exhaust pipe at the Y. Will fix this weekend

Re: 13 Charger Mostmint # 40

A few weeks back the water pump let go on her way to Columbus from Toledo. She was almost there so with some phone support from me she nursed it to her destination. Got it fixed at a Firestone store near her. It was expensive it the best alternative that did not require me going there. I located som...

Re: 1997 Pontiac Firebird

For autocross and track day no need for a big $ upgrade to the bearings. At the very least you need to know the maintenance interval on these before making that decision.

Re: cheap car racing

Only one pass, 3rd shift not too good, 1/8 mile was 10.66 so not a good number.

Re: cheap car racing

Today the LF was torqued down and I made some additional changes to the tune. The AFR gauge was cooperating so I did some work on idle and near idle, also testing out the new warm up enrichment configuration. Kurt road tested the car and took it to Dragway 42 - which was extremely crowded and he onl...

Re: cheap car racing

After Nelson there is of course more work to do on the car. So far I have repaired the RF headlight headlight frame, RF fender and replaced the RF sidemarker. Also changed out the RF rotor and reattached the brake duct where it had separated. Post race I noticed a lot of camber in the LF - it was at...

A tall tale

A senior citizen from Dayton, Ohio drove his brand new Corvette stingray convertible out of the dealership. Taking the on ramp north on I 75, he floored it to 80 mph enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. “Amazing,” he thought as he flew down I 75, pushing the pedal eve...
