Re: 1999 F-250 #54

Did you do any wheelies along the way? I remember as a teenager, my dad would overload his '55 Chevy pickup and then invite me to drive. What an experience! It was tough to keep that thing going in a straight line. Had a similar experience with my '75 Ford pickup. Put as much horse manure i...

Re: Potential Car Purchase

I looked but didn't see any rust around the edges of the vinyl top. Would be good to get a close up of those areas to check for bubbling.

Re: 1997 Pontiac Firebird

I like to stabilize rust before covering it with paint or POR15. OSPHO is good but it should be cleaned before painting to avoid acid working under the paint. I used lacquer thinner to get treated rust ready for paint. https://www.amazon.com/Ospho-605-Metal-Treatment/dp/B000C02CDG/ref=asc_df_B000C02...

Re: Chevelle Upgrades, 2019

I got caught with the different size splines after being assured that the MC SS steering box was a direct bolt in on the El Camino. Well, that's true if you get the MC SS box off a donor and take the pitman arm with it. Otherwise the pitman arm had to be replaced with one with the MC SS spline. In t...

Re: Chevelle Upgrades, 2019

Dave, Had the same issue when a Monte Carlo steering box was swapped in to the El Camino. There are two different diameters for that style of splines. Got it resolved with the seller listed here. https://www.tiresmoke.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1972&p=13144&hilit=1981+el+camino+pitman+arm#p...

I just noticed the cup holder on the driver's door. The guy has a sense of humor.

Re: 1978 Lincoln Continental Coupe

Don't think the Lincoln wants to be sold. I was taking it to get it cleaned up for a car show where I was going to park it with a "For Sale" sign on it. On the way the AC wasn't cold. WXO and I worked on it and found the refrigerant gone. Scheduled an appointment at Pep Boys to have them l...

Re: 2019 Driving Vacation

If the XTS were a 2016, the iphone would work but I haven't found a 2014 solution. The links you emailed are moving in the right direction, just need to find a solution that doesn't require mods to the car or $6XX price. (IIRC, the in-dash GPS map upgrade is about $150 so that's the upper limit on p...

Re: 2019 Driving Vacation

Something I neglected to post in the summary: smart phone/Google Maps connected to dash is much better technology than in-car GPS systems. Our 2014 XTS GPS data base is 5 years out of date and expensive to update. My Android phone is connected to the car's dash display and audio systems for voice ca...

Re: 2019 Driving Vacation

It was fun following you, the Cossick Farm is in Togo, MN., not too far from Bemidji, the home of Paul Bunyan. :) Hey 32V, Didn't know you were from MN. It is really beautiful country. Would love to see it again but it's a really long drive. We saw the Paul Bunyon statue but didn't stop for a pic. ...
