Re: 1991 Jaguar XJ-S

I’m not certain what the configuration of the pads is, but I’ve always used a grinder
to open the slot on the pads to add a bit of slop to the action. I’ve done this ever since
I had a squeaky set and the grinding cured the issue. Just a thought.

Re: Quickest Cars on Tiresmoke

GM Johnny says that I need to update my time and ET to 11.844 @ 113.2......so he can beat it.

Which he will!!!

With no performance upgrades on the horizon, my only hope for catching you
is better weather ( tough to beat the other night! ) and floor mat removal!
That’s not necessarily a very ...

Re: 2008 Corvette Coupe

I had no plans for taking the Vette to the track until BP egged me on by telling me his Vette would be faster than me. The weather was right yesterday, so I decided to get my helmet out of storage and head to the track. I haven’t really played around with this car (burnouts/high speed), so I was in ...

Re: 1991 Jaguar XJ-S

After reading this, I’m amazed at the engineering that went into the IRS on
your Jag. It seems a bit over complicated to me, but the majority of the cars
that I’ve worked on are very basic- almost tractor-like so anything different
seems complex. The struts don’t look too horrible to remove from ...

Re: 1991 Jaguar XJ-S

The bolts are strictly box wrench access with maybe a quarter turn at a time.

Do yourself a favor in life and buy some GearWrench wrenches. I bought a metric
and a standard set ( like 12 of each ) and I use them more than i use my ratchets
and sockets. Well worth the $$$.

Preventative upgrades

38,628 … So, the C6 Corvettes have many issues that are well known. Let’s face it, this car is already 17 years old! One of the well known issues is the harmonic damper failure. My car still had the factory damper on it (still in good shape and not wobbling) but, I opted to get it replaced as a ...

I’m a non-factor. My Vette will be in the shop next week.

38,516

38,516 …I’ve only managed to put a little over 1,000 miles on this car. With as horrible as the weather has been since I’ve owned it, it’s not hard to believe. I did do a small project a few weeks back that I didn’t post about - the rear hatch button didn’t work when I got it. It took about an hour ...

Rotor Paint Job

38,040 ….. I did this project about a week ago but have been a bit lazy about posting it. It really wasn’t a hard project, but one that needed to be done. Before I got the car, the dealer had new brakes and tires installed on it. They used uncoated rear rotors, so they were all rusty. I painted them ...

Re: 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport

It’s part of our lives now that we’re reliant on computerization for
everything. It’s so good when it works the right way, but when a failure
comes along, it’s not a good thing. Obviously, a missing fuse is some
sort of quality control situation, but a bad module right off the rip is
a bit scary ...

Re: 2003 S-10

BP,

I had to straighten the wheel on my El Camino and it was a matter of
adjusting the tie rod sleeves the same amount on the left as you adjust
them on the right. It was really pretty simple and I got it in a few tries
as I recall. Look it up on YouTube.

Re: 1991 Jaguar XJ-S

I’m still a huge leaper fan, BUT I’m also someone who likes the
stock look the most. I guess Jag didn’t see it fit to put the Leaper
on, so you’re stuck with a badge. On to the next problem for you.
