Re: No burnouts allowed!

Unbelievable to throw your life away, plus the people he ran over, for over doing donuts.

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff

Team Tiresmoke was well represented in Steve Stanley's post on FB.

Re: 1963 Corvette

Test drive complete.. oil leak remains. Passenger side rear of the engine. UGH. It's not the oil pressure sender, thats dry. I can't tell if its coming up between intake and distibutor, or if it is somehow leaking directly out the back of the intake. So I think my next step is pulling/re-sealing the...

Chevelle Projects 2024

I figured I would start a new thread for this year. I changed the oil + filter with Pennzoil 10W30 Full Synthetic + AC Delco PF454 just before going to KMP on 5/8. Other than that, I haven't touched anything on it since last fall. First pass of the season was a very nice 12.18 @ 110.8 MPH. There was...

Re: 1979 Malibu

I got my new radiator modified by Steve McBride.. I think this will work better. I need to find a different hose. Worst case, I might have to have Steve shorten it up a bit, though.

Re: 1963 Corvette

I bought a new distributor off ebay a couple months back. Seems they are clearing out the mechanical tach-drive distributors. A couple years ago, they were $199 on ebay, I got one for $109 + shipping. Brand new. The guts look just like an MSD distributor, which also means I don't have points anymore...

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff

The disorganization was off the charts. Are we running 1/4 or 1/8 mile? Why did we have three different announcements about it? Why is this even a question on Wednesday night? We're gonna start calling classes to the staging lanes like a Saturday? It was clear to me that ownership/management opened ...

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff

I just pulled the Chevelle into the lift bay. It'll get an oil change over lunch today, because I spent too much time working on Maliboost last night. Should be a good night, I've heard from a few friends who aren't regulars who are planning on going out tonight. I think Team Tiresmoke will be well ...

Re: 1979 Malibu

This weekend I started tackling the new radiator + fan install. The old radiator +2fans that came with the car were just not up to the task. Even when was at Dragway 42, it got up to 200 and was a pain to cool. I have limited room to work with, so I got a Proform radiator with the same height/width,...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

Wow, those turned out really nice. C4 seats seem to be notoriously bad, almost every one i see for sale has failed upholstery.

Re: 1979 Malibu

Effort wise, it's honestly not terrible. Its a manual-steering box, not like a power-steering box with no power. I'll take the video game look! Driving around with the O2 sensor unplugged killed it, so I threw in a replacement and have good data again. My tuning changes paid dividends! Chris and I t...

Re: 2024 Group Swap Meet discussion

I'd really like to do the Charlotte Autofair, but I'm busy that week. Georgia in November sounds pretty nice compared to Ohio in November.

Re: 1979 Malibu

Chris came over today and we made a bunch of progress and learned several important things. In no particular order: *) I bought an adapter off amazon for GM 36-spline steering to 6x70mm, which let me install a steering wheel that I had in inventory. Smaller diameter and a flat bottom to help get in ...

Re: 1979 Malibu

Yeah, I do need to wrap that. I'll do it when I swap the radiator. I also put an initial call in to a remote tuner to help me get some of the more advanced Megasquirt setup dialed in. As soon as I get the steering wheel done, I'll get it out on the street. New rear tires (with correct rotation!) 202...

Re: 1979 Malibu

After a couple missed attempts, I finally have a new crank sensor bracket, made from .26" aluminum. It should be much sturdier than the .125 steel, and probably lighter. 20240420_184400.jpg 20240420_221347.jpg Cut-N-Paste didn't have any gas for his TIG setup, so I threw a random post up in the...
