Chester Car Show, 7-12-2025

The annual Chester Car Show at the church on 306 is Sat July 12. I'm planning on going and my cousin asked if he could drive the '63 there. A few pics from last year.

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

I missed the shifter conversation. My 90Vette has a short-throw shifter with a large-ish ball shifter. Sometimes I'm not sure if I like the short-throw, or maybe because my trans can be a little finicky, esp going into 3rd. Your shift handle looks a lot taller than mine.

Re: 1991 Jaguar XJ-S

This assembly was engineered for functionality with almost zero consideration for assembly and disassembly.

The issue with these mounts is that they fail under tension which only happens on a lift. It can be quite catastrophic, but knowing the design flaws of your car allows you to work around ...

93k

Oil + filter, tire rotation, brake inspection (all good), brake line inspection (all good), new inner/outer tie rods and an alignment. I had the work done at Chesterland Auto Care (formerly Dons CARS)

It still needs some tires, the outsides got abnormally worn on the fronts (now on the rear ...

Re: Chevelle Projects 2024

I've been driving the wheels off this thing lately, and I'm loving it! I made some tuning changes with the idle timing and accel-enrich that effect the tip-in and it has made a noticeable difference to me. It used to be hard to leave a stop smoothly, and whaddyaknow, taking away some timing there ...

Re: 2019 Mustang GT

Well, its June and time for annual Mustang Mainteneance

67,122 miles -- changed oil/filter with Mobil 1 5w20 and a Motorcraft FL-500S. Oil life was at 3% since the last change at 59k. I replaced the air filter too, but it was surprisingly clean, having been in there since 2023.

The better tires ...

That looks really good Mark, congrats on the purchase. Will we eventually see it at Thompson??

I think my motorcycle riding days are about over too.

Re: 1963 Corvette

Personally, I'd go every year. It's a way to keep part of your dad's memory.....current. Admittedly, that's simply my opinion.
Too bad about the rain.....but the '63 looks great in that photo. Jan and Paul would both approve. :)
Is that photo 322 heading East at 528?

I'll probably keep going to ...

Re: 1963 Corvette

Well, I really dragged this one out, but we got'r'done. But not without more problems to solve.

The lesson I've learned here is if you're going for a stock look, go STOCK. By going to the '63 intake, I'm on a small bolt pattern for the carb. I can't bolt on a square bore Holley (like Tony's 670 ...

Re: Chevelle Projects 2024

Since I really got nothing on the list done on the car last year, I'm just going to continue on this thread for now.

Not even on the list, I've had a hard-start issue on the first start of the day for a while. Subsequent starts would always be easier, but it turned out I had another crank sensor ...

Re: 1979 Malibu

There hasn't been much off-season activity with Maliboost. I changed the oil and the spark plugs. However, I'm pretty sure I managed to cross-thread the #5 cylinder. The new one is in there and I fired it up for a few seconds, it sounds normal. But I bought a spark-plug thread chaser just in case ...

Re: 1963 Corvette

So Michael's was able to turn around fixing my carb stud holes in just a couple days, which was nice. I got it back the day before I left for Florida to be with Dad, so everything sat on hold.

The intake is bolted down and the carb fits as expected now. I bought a 14x2" air filter that allows the ...
