Re: 1979 Malibu

I've discovered from driving the Chevelle around on my 'skinnies' that it's not really a big deal. I thought it might feel sketchy, but it doesn't. I don't corner aggressively, at all -- in this car. :-) This is the one I'm thinking about. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-6658 I did some real ...

Re: 1979 Malibu

I need some input here.. so I'm going to replace the front tires because they're old, and frankly pretty small. Current tires are 185-65-15, which is 24.5" Mickey Thompson makes some front-runner style .. I could get 26/27/28" tall. Sooo, which one? https://www.summitracing.com/search/part...

Re: 1979 Malibu

Now that your car is super fast, and you have cool videos from inside the car, you need to replace the dash pad.  -BP Among those who've seen it, the consensus seems to be that it is an improvement. Not awesome, but less sucky. That's just sitting in place after about 30 seconds of effort.

59,268 Oil + Filter change, tire rotation. 20240615_111355.jpg This car just keeps soldiering on, what can I say... the oil life said it was 0%, which was a little shocking, esp since it hasn't been 10k miles. So, 10 qts of fresh Mobil 1 5W-20 and a Motorcraft FL-500S filter. I never rotated the tir...

Re: 2008 Trailblazer SS

That's neat.. pretty good report too. Did you just collect a sample when draining the last oil? I'm about the change the oil in my Mustang after about 9k miles (10qts). I've never sent oil out like that before, so I'm interested in how the process works.. and cost.

Hearing it start up -- without issues! -- had to feel like a pretty good win.

Re: 1979 Malibu

Ok, ok.. I ordered the dash cover. We'll see how it works. Post-race inspection revealed an upper radiator hose that was touching the heat-wrapped crossover pipe. When I first discovered it, by feel, it felt terrible, and I was amazed it hadn't blown. However, once I got it off, it probably only got...

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff

I'm still grinning ear to ear after busting into the 10s with Maliboost. There was a lot of validation for the work I've done and money I've spent. New crank sensor bracket seems to be holding up perfect, I made every pass on the 2-step. My radiator setup is better than it was, and I like the smalle...

Re: 1979 Malibu

Yeah, there is a ton more potential in it! And it does go straight. Last night was soooo satisfying... And this morning, the sun is shining, the birds are chriping, my pepsi tastes just a little sweeter!! I literally picked up a full second from the fall at Dragway 42. 11.5 @ 119 (on 30x9 slicks) 10...

I'm in the 10s!

I'm just gonna leave this pic, and this video. It was an epic night at the track!! ET records were smashed, my MPH was great, there was a lot to like. This was some high quality payback for the work I've done so far. 20240529_223239.jpg Here's the 10.55 pass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGQHQ-rJ...
