I sort of went through the same thing as I flipped through my receipts folder this weekend for the Chevelle. I remember buying most of the stuff. I even saw the receipt for the driveshaft hoop I purchased in 1993 that still is not installed. Memory Lane, indeed.

I like the pic and/or video idea.

I think that once she leaves, I won't wana see all that I've sold off. For various reasons, like guilt (why did I ever sell this), or stupidity (I sold all this, and the car, for only $7500??)
No, once she's gone, that's it. I'm glad it's going out of state.

However, I've fantasied about what may lie down the road.
I figure the 'Stang GT may be just to expensive.
'87-'88 Ford Turbo Coupe - Try finding one under 100k in miles
'86 ish Monte Carlo SS - Rusty or just over priced. ( I had an '84 M\C SS)

Ahhh, but for now, the hunt is on for a 2-5 year old Honda Rancher!

The pick-up has been postponed until July 9th, but I've convinced Ed to deal with cash :D:D:D, instead of a bank check.
The delay is fine with me...

A Honda Rancher? How many acres does your spread have?
What kind of horses and cows are you going to get?

(Sorry, I couldn't help myself. )

It's OK, 32...
My Mentor city lot is all of .19 acres. I figure in 20min, Dan can trash both the front and back yards!!!

The Honda Rancher is Honda's best selling utility ATV. The older ones, (pre 2006) are 350cc air cooled with an engine oil 'radiator' and small fan. 2006 and newer, are 420cc and liquid cooled. I'm looking at pre 2006.

Epilog.

Ed from St. Paul, showed up shortly after 4pm yesterday. He gave the Nova a thorough investigation, followed by a test drive. Without hesitation, he pealed out cash. I loaded her on his trailer, and after two hours of loading all the misc parts, he was off.

It was 21 year affair. 20k miles. Some ups and downs. But most of all, entertainment. Weather it be tinkering, or smoldering the tires, she served her purpose.
And thus ends a chapter, or small novel, in the life of Mark. Time to move on. So, from the track, it's on to the field, so to speak. No more pavement required.

I'm debating on keeping or changing the MarkSS327. For now, it stays.

From the new owner...

..just an FYI that the Nova was chassis dynoed today at Hi Tech automotive in Elk River, MN...250 RWHP, and 300 RWTq at about 4250 rpm. The dyno guy said the car ran out of steam and needed a larger carb...a 750 was suggested for what they thought may be another 30 hp, and the torque converter was stalling at about 3300 rpm. It's off to the frame and alignment guy on Friday.

Later, Ed

Personally, I find the 250 value a bit disappointing. And the 3300 stall is not what I'd expect. I knew the upper RPM would fall, just by seat of the pants driving experience. It's the 650 and stock iron heads. My response was to try a 750 of his choice, and look at ANY aftermarket heads.
It's been over three weeks now, and he's emailed me 5 times. I know it's a nice gesture and all, but I really don't care anymore.

I knew it was way short on carb.

Back in the day my friend Steve had a 600 cfm on a complete stock 400 and the vacuum gauge never went to zero except when the car was not running. I was quite sure 650 was too small.

Eventually the enthusiasm of the new owner will drop off and he will stop sending emails. If not - just put him in the spam filter. At least you know the guy likes the car and is going to have fun with it.

That does seem a little odd that the new owner keeps emailing you after all this time. My Chevelle with the old 487X castings, 234/244 cam and 750 Holley put down a best of 308 HP/360 tq with open headers, so the 250 figure doesn't seem too out of line with the smaller carb and cam.

Why don't you ask that new owner to log onto Tiresmoke and start a new tread so we can all follow his progress.
I would be interested in seeing what improvements he makes. I always thought that car was uniquely special.

I agree with Mark on that one - let the past be in the past. There were no warranties expressed or implied on that car. As is!
