Guys, it looks like I'm going to be missing this year's Carlisle trip. I'm getting sent on a trip for work to Melbourne, Australia for up to 8 weeks. I don't have all the details yet, but based on the phone calls and emails at work, this thing is for sure, and I expect to be leaving within the next 2 weeks. This is a really good opportunity for me (personally & professionally) and I'm really looking forward to it.

I definitely plan to explore the car & bike scene down there as much as I can. For example, Calder Park Raceway is only 9.5kms from Melbourne Airport. :-) http://www.calderpark.com.au/home.shtml And the Great Ocean Road is supposed to be one of the better drives around.

8 weeks! Should be enough time to find a local swap meet there and take that in also. How cool would that be?

You could almost buy a motorcycle and sell it again in that amount of time. Is there a craigslist for Australia?

An Aussie swap meet would be really cool!

You're right, it is almost long enough to buy a bike and sell it again. It's already crossed my mind. http://melbourne.craigslist.com.au/ Looks pretty spartan, though. Clearly the US dominates in craigslist technology. :-)

Australia does have some sweet V8 rear drivers there that we'll never see here. Make sure you have extra batteries for the digital camera!

I'm planning on it, barring some emergency. Planning to be there Fri for dinner.

Maybe Tiresmoker can loan us the grill?

BP already called me about the grill. It's sitting right inside the people door to my garage awaiting pickup.

Sorry you can't make it, Smoker. You will only be able to dream about a big "meat" while you are down under.

I should be going up Thursday too. This meat is huge and requires two hole days to handle it properly.

There is nothing more important than proper handling of the meat.

Spring Carlisle is really close!
......The event is Wed 21st through Sun 25th. The Carlisle Auction
is Thu 22nd and Fri 23rd from 3pm to 11pm. ( I called Dennis Baish, Auction Mgr.)
For those who will be there Thursday afternoon, we could attend the auction for no cost as
a spectator Thursday evening or sometime Friday. I think that could be interesting.
......If you have an interest in renting a scooter, I talked with Mike Nice, he will rent to anyone over 60.
Check out his web site “NICE2M.com”. It’s pretty straight forward. You can rent by the day or by the hour.
Maybe you could rent from 1pm to 4pm or something. His liability requires one rider to one scooter.
