First of all..... I'm pretty much available this month to go to Blazin' Bills.
I personally think that a Tuesday night is great, but that's because I don't
work on Wednesday. I'm good on Friday or Saturday night as well. I do work
on Saturday, so if we met up, it would have to be around 7.... Everybody chime
in here and let's set a date.

Secondly, Tony... I felt a huge torque increase from the new headlights.... Just
huge!! I'm glad it wasn't just me thinking the headlights would be a power
increaser!

Thirdly, I got the "new" license plates put on and legalized over the weekend.

The plates are really cool. I was thinking that a Sunday lunch would be cool. Nice Sunday drive to Blazin Bills in the Fall would be sweet. I'm not opposed to Saturday nights though and we typically eat late so that's cool too. Probably have to call ahead there. Weeknights are bad for me. Typically too much working going on after work.

I'm good for whatever. I'd recommend slapping a date on the
night quickly, as we don't want to be driving good cars in the
snow!!

Today I had some spare time to install some of the stuff that I'd ordered online.
I have this pile of parts waiting to be slapped on, so what seemed to be the easiest
was to replace the gasket on the top of the fuel tank ( tank is in the cab of the truck ).
The total cost for parts was less than $5.00 - I got the rubber gasket and the hold-down
ring to hold the sending unit in the tank. This part of the job took about 20 minutes and
was pretty easy to do. I had to bend the ears of the hold-down ring slightly down so
they would engage the tank correctly, but after that it was simple. Hopefully now I will
be able to fill the tank to the neck without smelling fuel in the cab!
I then decided to work on the heater control switches. A kit to replace the broken levers
in the heater control panel was $30.00 and it gave all that was needed to replace pot-aluminum
levers with steel levers and new knobs. The blower fan was on a toggle switch under the dash
when I got the truck. I went in to replace the broken parts and quickly realized that the guy
who installed the toggle didn't hack the wires completely, he used scotch-locks which just
tap in to the original wiring. I removed all of that garbage and tested the original switch on
the control panel and it worked. Good news! I went to install the panel and there were only
two cables connected under the dash and there are three connection points. Apparently, the
previous owner disconnected a cable when the fan lever broke. The cable opens up the
heater ducting when the fan is in the HIGH position, and closes the duct when it is in a lower
speed. This unexpected discovery cost me about 45 minutes of figuring out how the cable
was to run, but when I put it all back together it worked as it should and looks factory. I lubed
all of the cables while I was under the dash and I also lubed the ash tray slides.

On to the next project!

Since it's supposed to suck this Saturday night and Sunday weather-wise, I vote to just say next Saturday night dinner or next Sunday for lunch. Call it rain or shine. I'm with you fellas.

So.....since we don't have a World Series Parade to schedule around, anyone still interested in Blazin Bills and cool cars on Saturday or Sunday?

It's supposed to be really nice this weekend. I'm down for Sunday lunch. Saturday is Mother in Laws b-day... Nice cruise through the country on a fall day with the leaves at peak. Oh, and stuff myself with BBQ. Let me know if anyone is down.

I'm down with Sunday as well. And if anyone wants to go for a cruise afterwards, I'm all in.

The snow will soon be upon us. Might as well drive while we can.

1:30 Sunday is good... GMAmy may be in, depending on her kid visiting
the house. I'm good for sure. I'll leave my house at 1:23.

I have to work tomorrow starting at 9am, and I fully expect it to take at least 3 hours, probably longer. I may or may not make it.

Today was a day that was supposed to be spent on lawn machine maintenance
and winterization. That didn't happen as it was raining and 45 degrees out and
I wasn't about to pressure wash in the rain. Soooooo... I opted to install my new
sound system instead. "All I had to do" was remove the old radio and speaker and
put a new "custom fitted" unit back in its place. Well, it really didn't go extremely
smooth, but it wasn't a hateful job. I spent about 4 1/2 hours lying on my back
and standing up and walking around the truck and going to the workbench and
back to the truck, etc...... I was very careful to not hack any original wiring, so
I had to customize a few electrical connections to fit factory connectors and one
in the fuse panel. Now that the work is done, I've replaced a stock AM radio and
single dash speaker with an AM/FM stereo ( with digital readout and AUX line-in )
and a dual 4" speaker mount assembly that fits in the factory dash hole and uses
the factory mount set up. It sounds infinitely better than the original old radio, but
is a far cry from a Bose system. My original hope was to have a radio that looks
presentable without hacking the dash and that plays FM. This package accomplished
that, and will be easy to hear, as the new technology speakers are very crisp sounding.
It will take about a week or so for my arms to heal, as they got all torn up trying
to squeeze in the small areas under the dash, and my back is a bit beat up as
well. A project well done today, and done before the bitter cold of winter.
