Standing Mile

This is all I know about the car from another post by Carl. "I ran 135.8 mph in the mile with my ~480HP 429/C6/2.75/4600 pound car."

The Lincoln is also about 4600 lbs, estimated 466 HP with the improvements, current rear end gear 2.75, probably going to 3.25, and running at 500 feet above sea level, where Carl runs at 3000-5000 feet.

Any one done the standing mile run in Ohio? would be fun but I doubt my tires would be up to the speed.

The standing mile in Ohio is one of those things I'd really like to try in the near future. Not sure I'd wanna do it in a 70s Lincoln though, no matter what tires were on it..

I'd like to do it in my S-10... If I'm doing 97 in the 1/4, I'm guessing mid 120's? But I'll probably hold out until I get something stronger, like a C4.

I'd be up to trying it. I can do 113 in the quarter, how much faster will it go in another
3/4 mile? I'm sure the car is up to the task.

I'd have to get the wheels balanced first. Not sure how the brick would behave at 130 or so but it's really smooth and stable at 80. Would be fun to find out.

All I can say is those big cars get pretty floaty around 120 or so.... My '65 Olds
full size had plenty of horsepower to get me to 120+, but it was a handful at
that speed.....

The Lincoln needs more downforce. How about fitting front and rear spoilers to hold it onto the road?

Guess I'll never find out 'cause the tires are too good to replace.

Makes me wonder what 4600 lb car Carl has and what he's done to it.
