My Corvette search
So, I couldn't quite "do the deal" this weekend for the 98 Camaro SS or the 98 Corvette Coupe. I probably could've had the Camaro for $8k.
So, the search continues. I found this car on ebay before heading up to Carlisle. Saw it on ebay first, then I found it on corvetteforum.com tonight. If this car is legit, I think this is a greay buy.

I found posts from the current owner back in 2003 when he first was considering buying it. Only driven 11k miles in the last 10 years.

Re: My Corvette search
His ebay feedback score sucks... I'd view that as a red flag, or at least read up
on why his score is so bad......

Re: My Corvette search
I agree that both items required a closer look.
I saw the low feedback too. There were 2 negatives in the last 12 months, one was due to slow communication during Hurricane Sandy, and the guy lives in NJ, the other negative feedback was from an alleged return of a non-defective item, so he wouldn't refund the original shipping charge.
As for the title history, the mileage discrepancy was reported back in 2000, before the current owner purchased it. If you look at all the entries, it's hard to tell what happened there. It doesn't look that fishy to me, though. A 10-yr old Corvette in 2003 with 80k miles doesn't seem unusual. He's only driven it 11k miles since then.
Searching on Corvetteforum.com, I found a post from 2003 where the current owner was considering purchase of this car. I've found other posts where he's looking for repair information regarding the stuff that he says he has fixed in his ad.

Re: My Corvette search
Here's one that is a year newer 89k miles that you can go see for $7000: http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/3717193463.html
This was in 2 minutes of looking so I don't think the price is "fire sale".
I agree $6500 looks like a good price but I would go and see/feel/drive the car before buying it and that odometer discrepancy will wreck any resale value regardless of how fishy it looks.
What are you going to do with this type of car? Don't you need a garage first or is that on the way also?

Re: My Corvette search
I can tell you from my experience selling cars, that a TMU (true mileage unknown) is in my opinion, worse than a salvage title. Unless you plan to keep this car FOREVER, you don't want it. Everyone will from then on assume the car has 250,000 miles and not even look at it. I wouldn't look at one no matter how good a deal it seemed.

If you still happen to be searching for the right Camaro. Don't forget the ever stupid Camero search:

There's always a handful there.

After spending part of the evening out in the garage on the Chevelle, I think I'm going to put off buying another car for right now. I certainly have enough to do already.

Re: My Corvette search
This looks pretty inexpensive... especially for an '04...

I'm so close with the Chevelle, that I gotta concentrate on that before getting another car.

Re: My Corvette search
I'm pretty sure that's a dealer though. I've seen that building several times in other car pictures when I was looking. Either way, that's a great deal with all the right stuff. That would be a fun car to have.

Re: My Corvette search
I feel like I'm running down the trench of the Death Star.. "allllmostt therrrre....." before I'm ready to pick up another car. Just gotta get my leaking basement sorted out. That should be my last (potentially) major expense for a while.
