TRP results, 9-20-2006

Well, amid questionable weather, I decided to head out to Thompson tonight (in the GTP). I called the track at 4:30 and they said they were open. I had worked from home today, so I was able to get an early start. As I drove out there, the weather got better and better -- sun coming through the clouds and the roads were dry. It was only in the 50s, I think. I had a long-sleeve shirt and pullover on, and I was still cold.

I got there around 5:40, and by 5:55, I had already made two time runs. Nobody was there at first. I could've made 4-5 hotlaps easily. Traction was terrible. I spun every time, as did most people. My reaction times were even worse.

Next up, eliminations. I wasn't sure which class I was going to run, so when the class call was made, I sat back and watched the lanes fill up. There was almost no one in Animal, yet at least 20 cars in stock. I decided to run Animal -- *6* cars. I liked my chances.

First round, I drew a 90s Impala SS on slicks.

So, while it only took three rounds, I took home the money! After all the problems I've had with the Chevelle this year, it was nice to go out to Thompson and have a good outing.

The funny thing was they started kinda early, and with there being probably no more than 60 cars in all classes, I had won the final round, collected my trophy & money, and was on the road by 8:45. I met up with my old roommate Matt for a couple victory drinks and called it a night.

Yep, still paying $50. But no t-shirt..

I couldn't believe that more people didn't race animal.

So far, I've had a profitable racing season -- $20 in entry fees, $50 in winnings. I should quit while I'm ahead!

Based on a forecast of rain, 72 Duce pulled the plug on going.
This is Cleveland, don't like the weather, stick around, It'll change.

A .32 range in time runs aint bad. Pull the funky throttle run, and the last time run (cool engine?) the range drops to .098. That's impressive.

We're back on for the 27th.

The best Avalanche run, was a 16.58. Soooo, can your 305 run 17.83, or better? To the best of my knowledge, I don't' think 'Big Red' has run the 1320. but I could be wrong.
