OOPHS!
Seems using the home check for grandchildren (even 3 times, Doctor said he was) is not fail safe, since it now turns out that Basement is not really pregnant after all. Very sad and disappointing, but not something that can't be overcome.

There's a new term that's very "rare", called a "chemical pregnancy". After she took the test(s), she went to the doctor and they said that there was no reason to have to take a blood test to verify the pregnancy. Well, ultimately, they should have, because a blood test would have told her right then there was no baby.
I guess a chemical pregnancy is one where the woman's body thinks it's pregnant in all ways, except there's no baby. It's a hormone thing. Apparently the doctor didn't retest the first time she went because this never happens. Well, it does happen.
Yes it's disappointing, but it's not a miscarriage, and did not do any damage to my wife (except the emotional strain). We're going to take a break for awhile.
