1955 Ford from the 50's

Post by Fred32v »

Sunday I had a visit from a very long time friend of mine, let's call him DennyB.. He was driving his 1955 Ford Customline.
What you need to understand is the last time I saw this car was 3 years ago and there was no engine, no front-end,
no interior, only primer after all the paint had been stripped off. He had it painted and a local lady helped with the interior
seats and panels, but Denny put this car together. All the wiring, brake lines, fuel lines etc. are fresh.

It started life as a 6 cylinder, he converted it to a 292 Y-block v8 and upgraded to a 12volt electrical sytem
and a dual brake master cylinder.

This Customline Ford truely captures the spirit of the Fifties car scene.
My pictures don't do this car justice. This has been a labor of love for Denny.

An amazing labor of love. Denny must get a lot of satisfaction from this project.
He even remembered the spotlights! Very impressive!

Great looking car, and even better that he's out driving it! But what's the significance of the spotlights? Why did guys do that back then?

Those were used at the night drags. Cars would gather on a local back road, line up and turn on their spotlights to light up the starting line and the flag starter.
But what about the Continental Kit? I've never understood that fashion statement.
