1998 s-10 project

Post by ttamrettus »

I just picked up a 1998 s-10 project.
4 cylinder automatic needs some help but I think it has potential.
I got it for $1000
16 Boyds wheels, tires are not new and have hardly any tread left
aluminum Husky tool box in bed
hopefully I can get around to checking the compression and such this weekend.

So here is the next update.
I bought a 1996 s-10 (green one) for $500. Got it home, swapped the catalytic convertor for one Dad had in the barn. Now it runs like a champ. Swapped the seats with the burgundy one, swapped a broken taillight and some other small pieces. The Burgundy truck is pretty nice and is scheduled for a 2.2 cavalier engine and a NICE northern interior. The southern trucks may have 0 rust but the interior are usually BEAT.

Well the green truck was in front of my brothers work for 1 day. 15 calls and the first guy to look at it bought it. $1500 out the door. We simply put an old catalytic convertor on it, added a good drivers side mirror, added a passenger side mirror housing (broken glass), changed the oil and filter, swapped the front bench seat and removed all the bumper stickers.

We believe that a 2.2 cavalier long block is the same. So unless anyone wants to give me $2000 as it sits, the red one will be getting a new engine. They say the cavalier 2.2 has a few more HP than the s10 2.2 also.

Well the truck runs and drives. It has a new (to the truck) 4 cylinder engine. It started up right away. It has newer seats and a newer carpet. There are a few small things that need to fixed before it sells. My brother is probably gonna drive it for a couple weeks to "shake it down" then it gets a sign in it.

example of items it needs, seat recliner handle, driver mirror, headlight clip, orange marker light bulb, rear bumper light housing. the major item is a windshield as it got cracked when I towed it up here and a rock hit it.

BTW I think the green truck I sold is back up for sale on your into Burton near the square on 87. I don't think the guy could teach his daughter to drive stick.
