Snuck in another winter project...

Post by Racin'Jacin »

Well this time it wasn't entirely my fault!! My buddy had this old arcade game in pieces in his basement. It was the old sit down Super Shifter drag race game. He made me a smoking deal and of course I am a sucker for deals so I had to have it. I've been tinkering on it while waiting for my torque converter to be rebuilt and thus far I have it about 95% working (there's still one Penalty Light not working).

For me it's ABSOLUTELY hysterical watching my son slams the gears!!!! He's nine going on 16.
I told my buddy he has definitely helped to plant the seed of (car) corruption. ;-)

Now that I see it, I do remember that game from somewhere when I was a kid. Awesome!

I'd love to see a video of it in action (but I realize that's asking alot), so maybe I can just play it sometime...

Paul, I'll see what I can do for a video. In the meantime, by all means feel free to stop by anytime to give it your personal flogging. It's a blast - but I am admittedly a tad biased.

They made another version of this (that I don't have any childhood memories of) which I've only seen in a standup version - two side by side Front Engine Dragsters!!!!!! I'd LOVE to get one of those - not sure where'd I'd put it though. Maybe the living room!!!! ;-)

Hey for those of you who remember playing this as a kid (or adult) can you tell me if the car made a "skidding noise" when it was crooked??? I've got it making the Reving noises and Blown Motor Explosion, but am not sure if it makes a skid noise or not.

Haven't had any luck searching the net for the answer.

Paul, I got the video shot - just gotta get on a better connection to upload it!!!

Hey Paul, Here's a video I shot last night. Still not sure if this is 100% yet, but it's getting closer and closer!

Nothing should make you prouder than seeing your son power through the gears!

Love it!!!
